{"id":611250,"date":"2026-04-16T18:30:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T18:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/611250\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T18:30:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T18:30:15","slug":"jorge-martin-reveals-aprilia-motogp-technique-thats-completely-different-to-ducati","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/611250\/","title":{"rendered":"Jorge Martin reveals Aprilia MotoGP technique that&#8217;s &#8216;completely different&#8217; to Ducati"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jorge Martin has identified braking technique as a key difference between Aprilia and Ducati.<\/p>\n<p>After a disrupted debut season with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/aprilia-racing\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aprilia <\/a>and limited winter testing, the former world champion has emerged as one of the surprises of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Martin has stood on the podium in each of the last four races, including a maiden Aprilia victory in the COTA Sprint, and holds second in the world championship behind team-mate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/995158\/marco-bezzecchi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marco Bezzecchi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Martin, his rise has been fuelled by a combination of aerodynamics and changing how he brakes on the RS-GP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the [latest] aerodynamics was the key for me,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/973236\/jorge-martin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Martin <\/a>said in the USA. \u201cI felt good straight away.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, I changed the style\u2026 I changed a bit how I brake, and that&#8217;s why I feel much better on the Aprilia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin didn\u2019t want to give away details but explained that the revised braking technique &#8211; already used by Bezzecchi &#8211; is &#8220;very different&#8221; compared to what was required on the Ducati.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don&#8217;t want to go really into it; I don&#8217;t want to help the others\u2026 For sure Marco got it already,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s just much more different to the Ducati, where braking was also a strong point, but completely another kind of approach with the brake lever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aprilia\u2019s strength under braking was also noted by Francesco Bagnaia after Martin\u2019s last-lap Sprint victory over the factory Ducati rider.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou guys have improved your braking loads, you\u2019re really strong now,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/news\/1092826\/1\/jorge-martin-pecco-bagnaia-car-motogp-chat-ducati-lost-something-aprilia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bagnaia told Martin on the way to the COTA podium<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bagnaia is expected to replace Martin at Aprilia next season, with the Spaniard widely linked with a move to Yamaha.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribe to our MotoGP Newsletter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jorge Martin has identified braking technique as a key difference between Aprilia and Ducati.
