Dave Grohl<\/a> has given a new explanation on why Foo Fighters<\/a> decided to part ways with drummer Josh Freese<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cA drummer\u2019s playing is based on feel,\u201d Grohl told the Irish Times<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s all drumming is: feel. It\u2019s hard to define when you\u2019re playing with someone and it feels \u2018right,\u2019 or when you\u2019re playing with someone who feels \u2018really good,\u2019 and then you\u2019re playing with someone and it feels \u2018fucking amazing.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s personality, it\u2019s your connection, your rhythm that you have together,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s just a combination, or a recipe \u2013 when you\u2019re cooking something and it says, \u2018Salt and pepper to taste\u2019 at the end of the recipe; that\u2019s defined by you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Previously, Grohl had explained the breakup<\/a> in terms of Freese\u2019s connection to Foos\u2019 music. \u201cJosh said it best when he said that he didn\u2019t feel our music really resonated with him, and that\u2019s really important,\u201d he said<\/a>. Ilan Rubin is now Foo Fighters\u2019 drummer, and he plays on their April 24th album Your Favorite Toy<\/a>, as well as will be behind the kit when they hit the road on their huge North American arena tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the same Irish Times interview, Grohl got uncharacteristically political, lamenting all the \u201chate and fear\u201d in America, and saying, \u201cThere needs to be change.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n
