Carlton<\/a> and their new CEO Graham Wright have made the first move to reshape their football department for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

After announcing only last week that Michael Voss will coach in the 2026 season, the Blues have made the call to part ways with football boss Brad Lloyd.<\/p>\n

Lloyd, a former list manager at Fremantle, has been at Ikon Park since 2018.<\/p>\n

The respected figure is the brother of Essendon great Matthew Lloyd.<\/p>\n

It has been speculated for weeks that Lloyd\u2019s job was under serious threat after a disastrous season where the Blues will be disappointed bystanders during the finals.<\/p>\n

Now Carlton have confirmed that Lloyd will depart the club at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Lloyd, who is also the brother of former Geelong football boss Simon Lloyd, has survived plenty of tumult in his time at Carlton.<\/p>\n

He was there in 2019 when the club sacked Brendon Bolton and he also watched on in 2012 when David Teague was sacked.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a privilege to see the growth of our football program over the last seven years, to arrive here at the end of a two-win season in 2018 and progress to finals and a preliminary final \u2014 it has been off the back of an incredible amount of hard work from so many good Carlton people,\u201d Lloyd said on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best part of this job is seeing people growing and working so closely together to strive to achieve a common goal, and I want to sincerely thank all of our staff for their contribution towards that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been an honour to lead this football department and work for the same club my father represented. I firmly believe it is full of great people with great values, and strong foundations have been established here to take the club forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Incoming Carlton CEO Graham Wright thanked Lloyd \u201cfor his tireless effort and commitment\u201d to the club during a rocky seven-year period.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrad has been a central part of Carlton in recent years: he has progressed and led the football department through some significant adversity during that time, as well as back-to-back finals appearances,\u201d Wright said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrad\u2019s commitment to see out the final two weeks of the season speaks to his dedication and care for those around him. He is a great football person, well-respected right throughout the industry, and we wish Brad the very best for what the next chapter holds for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wright said the recruitment process for the general manager of football role would commence immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile there is no set timeline, we will be sure to update our members once this appointment has been made,\u201d Wright said.<\/p>\n

Wright said he had gained a thorough understanding of every aspect of the football club in recent months, and \u201cparticular attention has been given to the football department\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate the open dialogue I have been afforded by our players, coaches and staff \u2014 with every conversation centred around what is best for Carlton and how our club can succeed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuccessful clubs don\u2019t rely on individuals; they are a product of collective excellence across many areas and that is what we are striving to build.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile clearly our primary focus is on improving football performance – and despite excelling in other areas across the club – my observation is that there is great upside to enhance the connection and integration with our supporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to earn respect in this competition, making our people proud to wear the monogram. We have an opportunity to further strengthen our connection as a Carlton community and make sure every member feels the strongest sense of belonging possible. \u201c<\/p>\n
