{"id":611773,"date":"2026-04-16T23:56:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T23:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/611773\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T23:56:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T23:56:09","slug":"new-voices-featured-in-ra-world-golf-museum-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/611773\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018New Voices\u2019 Featured in R&#038;A World Golf Museum Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St Andrews, Scotland:\u00a0The R&amp;A World Golf Museum has launched \u2018New Voices\u2019, a powerful new digital story-telling project to mark World Voice Day.<\/p>\n<p>Made possible by philanthropic donations from The R&amp;A Foundation, 12 \u2018New Voices\u2019 films are now available to audiences worldwide via Bloomberg Connects, the arts and culture app, as well as within the Museum galleries in St Andrews.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018New Voices\u2019 brings together fresh perspectives that are shaping the future of golf, sharing stories from individuals helping to make the sport more welcoming, representative and sustainable for all. The project connects contributors from a wide range of backgrounds, including a golf operations apprentice, an agronomist, two-time G4D Open champion\u00a0Brendan Lawlor,\u00a0Jasmine \u2018The Jazzy Golfer\u2019, community founders, historians and junior golfers.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Howe, Director \u2013 Museum &amp; Heritage at The R&amp;A, said: \u201cNew Voices reflects our commitment to ensuring that golf remains relevant, inclusive and forward-looking. By sharing these personal stories, we are not only celebrating the diversity of today\u2019s game but also preserving an important chapter in its history for future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The project highlights the power of advocacy within golf and reinforces the message that change-makers and leaders can come from any background, generation or level of the sport.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors to St Andrews will be able to experience \u2018New Voices\u2019 in-person at The R&amp;A World Golf Museum and worldwide on the Bloomberg Connects app. Museum guests will also be able to enhance their experience through the Digital Guide on Bloomberg Connects, which allows them to explore objects featured in the films. These include important items such as the Musselburgh Cup,\u00a0Tom Morris Jnr\u2019s golf club,\u00a0Freddie Tait\u2019s Black Watch Medal and\u00a0Gloria Minoprio\u2019s trousers.<\/p>\n<p>The contributors also reflect on golf\u2019s past and its evolving story.\u00a0Ray Nyabola, Founder of Black British Golfers, highlights the importance of\u00a0Edward Tull Warnock\u2019s story as the earliest-known black golfer in the United Kingdom, demonstrating how history continues to shape the modern game today.<\/p>\n<p>Contributors to \u2018New Voices\u2019 represent more than seven nationalities, including Scottish, English, Northern Irish, Irish, Ukrainian, South African and Swedish, alongside a group of St Andrews Links junior golfers.<\/p>\n<p>The films are presented in English, with transcripts translated into more than 50 languages on Bloomberg Connects, enabling global audiences to engage with the stories.<\/p>\n<p>Through \u2018New Voices\u2019, the Museum steps beyond traditional story-telling, using digital technology to create an accessible and inclusive exhibition. The project builds on collaborative relationships with community partners, donors, R&amp;A staff and Members of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, while remaining grounded in the history and traditions of the sport. The stories captured today will form part of golf\u2019s heritage for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p>Among the contributors,\u00a0Amir Malik, Founder of the Muslim Golf Association, reflects on the responsibility of the sport\u2019s custodians. He said: \u201cIf we are true custodians, and that\u2019s what I see ourselves as, then we have to leave this game in a better place than we found it in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Two-time G4D Open champion\u00a0Lawlor\u00a0shares a message of authenticity and self-belief. He said: \u201cIf you be you, people will accept you for who you are, and I think that\u2019s the most important thing in life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Erika Malmberg, who champions golf for those living with autism and ADHD, said: \u201cKids when they get diagnosed, they often get told what they can\u2019t do. Picture by The R&amp;A.<\/p>\n<p>Jasmine, known as \u2018The Jazzy Golfer\u2019, founder of the Women\u2019s Golf Community and graduate of The R&amp;A Women in Golf Leadership Programme, emphasises the importance of access and inclusion. She said: \u201cI started talking about how more golf clubs could make themselves more welcoming to millennial women and girls \u2026 what equal access needed to happen to enable more women and girls to be playing the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The full list of contributors also includes local historians\u00a0Roger McStravick\u00a0and\u00a0David Hamilton,\u00a0Robbie Havlin, Golf It! Operations Apprentice, and 16 St Andrews Links Junior Golfers, alongside the wider \u2018New Voices\u2019 community.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018New Voices\u2019 is available via Bloomberg Connects and at The R&amp;A World Golf Museum in St Andrews.<\/p>\n<p>The R&amp;A World Golf Museum, which is situated directly opposite The Royal and Ancient Clubhouse, welcomes visitors every day from Monday to Sunday between 9 am and 6 pm (opening hours vary from November 2). Admission is \u00a317.50 for adults, \u00a312.50 for seniors and \u00a37.50 for students, while children aged 16 and under enjoy free entry.
