MADISON (WLUK) — A Madison-based health system is the Green Bay Packers’ new official health care partner.<\/p>\n

The team and UW Health announced a multi-year agreement Thursday morning at the UW Health American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison. Defensive end Lukas Van Ness and tight end Luke Musgrave were in attendance.<\/p>\n

“We’re proud to partner with an innovative health system like UW Health,” Packers president\/CEO Ed Policy said in a news release. “The Packers, much like UW Health, have a story that starts over a century ago. These two pillars of Wisconsin industry coming together to broaden the reach of health and wellness to football fans around the globe is a fitting partnership.”<\/p>\n

During Thursday’s news conference, UW Health CEO Dr. Alan Kaplan said, “Every Sunday in the fall, we watch members of the Packers’ team perform feats that seem almost superhuman and bring intense joy to their fans across Wisconsin and beyond. Similarly, every day, the UW Health team saves lives and restores the opportunity for patients and their families to be their healthiest selves.”<\/p>\n

At UW Health, we think of ourselves as Wisconsin’s health system, so it’s only fitting that we would partner with Wisconsin’s team, the Green Bay Packers.<\/p>\n

Under the deal, a gate on the north side of Lambeau Field will be renamed the UW Health Gate, to be unveiled in May. UW Health will also get the sponsorship patch on the Packers’ practice jerseys. Additionally, the organizations will collaborate on the Packers vs. Cancer program.<\/p>\n

UW Health will also sponsor several Packers community events, such as Packers Football Outreach programs and the Project Play 60 event. Other collaborations include youth sports programming, hospital engagement, health and wellness awareness and charitable giving to benefit American Family Children’s Hospital.<\/p>\n

“We also share a focus on philanthropic efforts, a commitment to excellence and we support the health of our communities,” said Craig Benzel, vice president of sales and business development for the Packers, during the news conference. “By coming together, we can have a greater reach and enhanced platform to really promote health and wellness.”<\/p>\n

Emplify Health, the Packers’ previous health care partner, issued this statement in response to Thursday’s announcement:<\/p>\n

Emplify Health is grateful for our longstanding and continued relationship with the Green Bay Packers and wishes the team and UW Health nothing but the best as they embark on their new partnership. We are excited for our own new relationship with Titletown and the newly minted Emplify Health Field<\/a>, which will allow us to deepen our commitment to health, well-being and community spirit for the benefit of all we serve.<\/p>\n
