The GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV<\/a> now has the same interior as its more conventionally shaped Haval H6 PHEV sibling, while still boasting more power and range.<\/p>\n

First spied testing by CarExpert in January<\/a>, the updated Haval H6 GT PHEV is available in Australian showrooms now. It continues in a single Ultra trim, priced at $52,990 drive-away.<\/p>\n

While externally it looks unchanged, inside there\u2019s a new dashboard \u2013 shared with the updated Haval H6 range launched last year \u2013 with a larger touchscreen.<\/p>\n

This 14.6-inch touchscreen runs GWM\u2019s latest operating system, called Coffee, and features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.<\/p>\n

The Haval H6 GT PHEV continues to have a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, but the gear shifter moves up to the steering column and there\u2019s a selection of \u201chigher-quality materials\u201d. The GT continues to differ from the standard Haval H6 range with its suede upholstery.<\/p>\n

Under the skin, it now uses GWM\u2019s Hybrid Intelligent 4WD (Hi4) system, and an electrified all-wheel drive layout \u201cdesigned to optimise efficiency, traction and performance across a wide range of driving conditions\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Haval H6 GT features an electric motor on each axle, with intelligent torque distribution between each. Drive is sent to all four wheels via a four-speed Direct Hybrid Transmission.<\/p>\n

Total system power is unchanged from before, with the Haval H6 GT PHEV producing 321kW.<\/p>\n

However, torque drops from 762Nm to 642Nm, though the claimed 0-100km\/h time nevertheless has improved from 4.9 to 4.6 seconds.<\/p>\n

It also retains a 35.43kWh ternary lithium battery, with 183km of electric range on the NEDC cycle and combined-cycle fuel consumption of 0.6L\/100km.<\/p>\n

In contrast, the standard Haval H6 PHEV has total outputs of 268kW and 780Nm, and a 19.09kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery offering 100km of NEDC range and fuel economy of 1.1L\/100km.<\/p>\n

The petrol-powered Haval H6 GT, also offered exclusively in Ultra trim, remains available. However, it misses out on the interior and tech updates made to its PHEV sibling.<\/p>\n

The Haval H6 GT, first launched here in 2025, was GWM\u2019s first plug-in hybrid to arrive in Australia but has been followed in quick succession by PHEV versions of the regular Haval H6, Tank 500<\/a>, Cannon Alpha<\/a> and, most recently, the Tank 300<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That led to GWM becoming Australia\u2019s second largest seller of PHEVs in March, behind only BYD. It has delivered more than 2700 PHEVs in under 14 months.<\/p>\n

GWM says sales of the Haval H6 GT are split almost evenly between petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with the latter accounting for 51.5 per cent of sales.<\/p>\n
