\n Fremantle have confirmed their final team of 23 set to take on West Coast in Western Derby 62 on Sunday\n <\/p>\n
Fremantle have confirmed a Club debut for Mason Cox, alongside the returns of forward Michael Frederick and midfielder Hayden Young for Western Derby 62 on Sunday at Optus Stadium.<\/p>\n
Chris Scerri has been omitted for the clash, and as announced earlier in the week, Jaeger O\u2019Meara and Sean Darcy are also ruled out with their respective injuries.<\/p>\n
Nathan O\u2019Driscoll, Scerri and Brandon Walker have been named as the emergencies for Sunday.<\/p>\n
Cox has been named on the bench in his Club debut alongside Neil Erasmus, Frederick, Corey Wagner, Karl Worner.<\/p>\n
Cox will share ruck duties with Luke Jackson, who has been named on field in the ruck with Caleb Serong, Andrew Brayshaw and Hayden Young in the middle.<\/p>\n
Now confirmed, Frederick will play his first senior game of the 2026 season after suffering an ankle injury late in preseason.<\/p>\n
Speaking at his Friday morning media conference, Longmuir emphasised the amount of work the trio have put into play.<\/p>\n
\u201cFreddy\u2019s trained really well, had a really good pre-season before he got hurt, and his last couple of weeks have been really strong on the track.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe feel like his run is important to us.<\/p>\n
\u201cMason’s been in really good form.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been our best player at Peel in two WAFL games so far this season, he\u2019s really just been waiting for an opportunity, and that opportunity has presented.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYoungy is right for a full game. We’ll keep an eye on his minutes, but he plays a little bit less than some of the other mids anyway, so it will be a pretty normal game for him.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe’s been playing midfield time and forward line time, so he\u2019ll continue that mix.\u201d<\/p>\n
Judd McVee will play his first Western Derby, named at half back with Luke Ryan, and Jordan Clark.<\/p>\n
Young is the reigning Glendinning-Allan Medallist and returns for the first time since sustaining a hamstring injury in the Round 1 loss to Geelong.<\/p>\n
If Serong wins the Glendinning-Allan Medal, it will be his fifth, making him the outright all-time leader and surpassing Fremantle\u2019s Paul Hasleby, with whom he is currently tied on four.<\/p>\n
Serong won his fourth Glendinning-Allan Medal in Round 3 last season, equalling Hasleby\u2019s mark.<\/p>\n
He first won the medal in 2021 and followed up with best-on-ground performances in 2023, 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n
Fremantle have won the last three meetings between the two sides.<\/p>\n
