Picture: Jason McCawley\/AFL Photos<\/p>\n<p>The Smithy\u2019s VFL teams for Round 4.<\/p>\n<p>Mitch Knevitt returns for ladder-leader Geelong&#8217;s clash with reigning premier Footscray at GMHBA Stadium on Friday afternoon, while Nathan Kreuger returns for his first game of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs have made five changes, headlined by the inclusion of All Australian midfielder Adam Treloar.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Peter Ladhams and Lewis Melican have been named for Sydney&#8217;s clash with cross-town rival GWS Giants at the SCG.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants have named a powerful line-up as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the year, with\u00a0Kieran Briggs,\u00a0Callum Brown,\u00a0James Leake and 2025 Smithy&#8217;s VFL Team of the Year forward Max Gruzewski among the inclusions.<\/p>\n<p>Reigning Carlton AFL best and fairest\u00a0George Hewett will play just his third VFL game when the Blues host Collingwood at IKON Park on Friday night. The John Nicholls Medal winner features among six inclusions for the Blues as they look to breakthrough for their first win of the season against their arch-rivals.<\/p>\n<p>Lachlan Sullivan is the only AFL-listed player among Collingwood&#8217;s four inclusions.<\/p>\n<p>Gold Coast Suns have included six-AFL listed players as they look to open their account against Essendon at People First Stadium, headlined by the return of Jamarra Ugle-Hagan. The Suns also regain Alex Sexton.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Guelfi, Archie Perkins and Dyson Sharp lead the Bombers inclusions, with eight changes made to the side which stayed with reigning premier Footscray for three quarters in Round 3.<\/p>\n<p>Southport will be without Frank Rosbrook medallist Jacob Dawson when it travels to Williamstown to take on the unbeaten Seagulls, however former skipper Michael Manteit makes a welcome return.<\/p>\n<p>The hosts regain three key players with Cam Polson and Jake Greiser set to play their first games of the season and Aiden Bonar returning. However, David Cuningham and Harry Minton-Connell are facing decent stints on the sidelines with calf and hamstring injuries respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Will Hoare will play his first game for Coburg when the Lions host St Kilda at Barry Plant Park. The rebounding defender played 37 games for the Bombers across the past four seasons before switching colours in the off-season.<\/p>\n<p>The Saints have included five AFL-listed players, including Jack Macrae, Dougal Howard and Paddy Dow as they continue their hunt for their first win since returning to the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Hobbs returns for Port Melbourne&#8217;s must-win clash against the Box Hill Hawks at ETU Stadium, where both sides enter with a 1-2 record. Hobbs has missed the Borough&#8217;s past two defeats through suspension.<\/p>\n<p>Blake O\u2019Leary makes a welcome return from injury for Frankston, following a knee injury sustained during the Round 20 win over North Melbourne last year which sidelined him throughout the finals series.<\/p>\n<p>Hawthorn defender Jack Scrimshaw makes his return from injury via the VFL, being one of four AFL-listed Hawks included for the clash with the Borough.<\/p>\n<p>Werribee will be without suspended forward Massimo Raso and injured defender Emerson Jeka when it hosts Frankston at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval, where the Tigers will be looking to record a 15th-consecutive win over the Dolphins.<\/p>\n<p>Sandringham skipper Blake Watson will play his first game of the season when the Zebras host North Melbourne at Wilson Storage Trevor Beach Oval, although in-form ruck Daniel Pinter with an ankle issue.<\/p>\n<p>The Kangaroos regain four AFL-listed players, including defender Toby Pink who has played 36 AFL games since making his AFL debut in 2024. However, they will be without Robert Hansen Jnr who was a standout in the Good Friday win over Carlton.<\/p>\n<p>Casey Demons regain Tom McDonald and Paddy Cross for their home clash with the Brisbane Lions on Sunday, while Kalani White will play his first game for the year.<\/p>\n<p>However, debutant Xavier Taylor, Max Heath and Matt Jefferson have been elevated to the AFL side after impressing in the win over Box Hill Hawks, while Aidan Johnson will miss through injury.<\/p>\n<p>Former Western Bulldogs and Carlton defender Liam Jones will play his first game for the Brisbane Lions.
