\n\t\u201cStranger Things\u201d star David Harbour<\/a> is the latest addition to the cast of \u201cJohn Rambo<\/a>,\u201d the origin story of the franchise. Harbour will play Rambo\u2019s commanding officer Major Trautman in the film directed by Jalmari Helander (\u201cSisu\u201d), Variety has confirmed.<\/p>\n

\n\tNoah Centineo stars as John Rambo, the one-man fighting force. The \u201cJohn Rambo\u201d story takes place before 1982\u2019s \u201cFirst Blood,\u201d the Sylvester Stallone movie that started the popular Rambo franchise. The John Rambo character was a Vietnam veteran and Special Forces soldier who is the last surviving member of his unit. Though traumatized by his Vietnam experience, he developed military skills that he used to fight corrupt police and drug cartels. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJohn Rambo\u201d has wrapped production in Thailand. Also appearing in the film are Yao (\u201cSinners\u201d), Jason Tobin (\u201cA Thousand Blows\u201d), Quincy Isaiah (\u201cWinning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty\u201d), Jefferson White (\u201cYellowstone\u201d) and Tayme Thapthimthong (\u201cThe White Lotus\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tTwo-time Emmy nominee Harbour is currently appearing as Floyd Smernitch in \u201cDTF St. Louis,\u201d and recently starred in \u201cStranger Things\u201d and \u201cThunderbolts*.\u201d He has a big year coming up with \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d in December plus \u201cViolent Night 2\u201d and \u201cEvil Genius,\u201d and he\u2019s also in production on Lionsgate\u2019s \u201cA Head Full of Ghosts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the screenplay for \u201cJohn Rambo,\u201d which is produced by Lionsgate, Millennium Media, Templeton Media and AGBO, and will be distributed by Lionsgate. <\/p>\n

\n\tProducers are Kevin King Templeton for Templeton Media, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger for Millennium Media, and Angela Russo-Otstot and Michael Disco for AGBO. Executive producers include Anthony and Joe Russo, Trevor Short, and Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk for Bonfire Legend, alongside Stallone. The film is produced by Lionsgate, Millennium Media, Templeton Media, and AGBO, and will be distributed by Lionsgate.<\/p>\n
