<\/p>\n FULLERTON, Calif. \u2014 The University of Hawai’i women’s tennis team (6-9, 3-5 BWC) fell to Cal State Fullerton (13-7, 6-3 BWC) by a final score of 6-1 at the Titan Courts in Fullerton, Calif. Despite the loss, the Rainbow Wahine fought hard, pushing two matches to tie-breaking sets.<\/p>\n Hawai’i’s lone point of the match came from the No. 3 position, as Hannah Galindo<\/a> earned a victory over Seha Yu. Galindo was leading 6-4, 4-1 when Yu was forced to retire. The win was Galindo’s third-straight as she improved to a 12-3 overall singles record.<\/p>\n In singles, Grete Gull<\/a> (No. 1) and Makeilah Nepomuceno<\/a> (No. 2) forced their matches into third-set super tie-breakers. Gull dropped her first set to Cal State Fullerton’s\u00a0Martina Markov, but battled back to take the second in a tie-breaker. But Markov edged Gull out in the super tie-breaker to claim the win, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (13-11). Nepomuceno\u00a0suffered the same fate as Gull, narrowly losing to the Titans’ Emilie Lugon-Moulin. Nepomuceno won the second set in a tie-breaker, but fell in the third in a\u00a06-1, 6-7 (7-4), 1-0 (11-9) decision for Lugon-Moulin.<\/p>\n The Titans secured the doubles point by winning two\u00a0of the three matchups. The ‘Bows won at No. 2 with the duo of Galindo and Nepomuceno notching the win over Dana Kunza and Markov, 6-1.<\/p>\n The match against the Titans was a make-up for a contest that was rained out on Feb. 8 in Honolulu.<\/p>\n The Rainbow Wahine will conclude their regular-season schedule at CSUN on Saturday, April 18\u00a0at 8 a.m. Hawai’i Time (11 a.m. Pacific Time) at the Matador Tennis Complex. #HawaiiWTEN<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
