The BBC has released a first-look trailer for the second season of its hugely popular sitcom, Amandaland. A spin-off of Motherland, the series<\/a> sees Lucy Punch play Amanda Hughes, a chaotic single mum raising two teenagers following a divorce. <\/p>\n

Joining Punch in the cast are Joanna Lumley, Philippa Dunne, Siobh\u00e1n McSweeney, Samuel Anderson, Ekow Quartey, Rochenda Sandall and Peter Serafinowicz, while Sharon Horgan serves as an executive producer.<\/p>\n

The hit series<\/a>, which boasts an impressive approval rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, was renewed for a second season by the BBC last year<\/a>, and now the first-look trailer has given fans a glimpse of what to expect from the follow-up.<\/p>\n

Amanda is still living in South Harlesden as she juggles the reality of raising teenagers and her online Senuous brand. In one hilarious moment, Amanda sprays her face with water to con her social media followers into thinking that she has just completed a 7km run. <\/p>\n

Another scene shows Amanda talking to a group of women as she claims that she is reading George Orwell’s 1984. When she is recommended another dystopian novel in the shape of The Handmaid’s Tale, Amanda quips: “Love anything handmade.”<\/p>\n

Amanda also has an adverse reaction to a new hipster coffee shop in the local area, which she believes represents a step towards gentrification. At the end of the new teaser, Amanda is seen drinking a coffee, saying: “She came, she saw, she gentrified.”<\/p>\n

Per an official description of the upcoming season, Amanda’s head will be turned when she discovers a big house in the area is up for sale, though the logline teases that acquiring it won’t be so simple.<\/p>\n

“Desperate to own it, she turns to her mother \u2013 only to discover that getting Felicity on board financially comes at a price,” it reads. “Her mum may seem evergreen, but is definitely starting to show signs of ageing so maybe living alone is no longer an option.”<\/p>\n

We are also introduced to Mal’s ex-wife, Abs, who is described as “no-nonsense”. Mal, meanwhile, strikes up an unlikely friendship with Abs’s new husband JJ, and Fi discovers a talent for dog walking after Della leaves to work on a cruise.<\/p>\n

Anne, meanwhile, remains Amanda’s loyal yet long-suffering best friend as they navigate the ups and downs of raising teenagers through exams, relationships, and, in the season finale, the dreaded school prom.<\/p>\n
