Madonna<\/a> has given her new single \u2018I Feel So Free\u2019 a low-key debut on a LGBTQ+ radio station \u2013 find out how to listen below.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week,\u00a0the Queen of Pop announced that her new album \u2018Confessions II\u2019 will be released on July 3<\/a>, the sequel to her seminal 2005 record \u2018Confessions\u00a0On\u00a0A\u00a0Dance Floor\u2019 and\u00a0the album she has been teasing since early last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first glimpse of new music came when she rebranded her official website on Tuesday<\/a> (April 14) with a clip of atmospheric ambient music, but now Madonna has surprised fans by dropping the first single in an unconventional and unannounced way.<\/p>\n

\u2018I Feel So Free\u2019 premiered on Pride Radio, an LGBTQ+ station that is part of the iHeartRadio network, earlier today (April 17), and it will continue to play on the station at the top of every hour for the rest of\u00a0this weekend, with no further official release details yet confirmed.\u00a0Listen to Pride Radio here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The song is a hedonistic\u00a0deep\u00a0house-flavoured\u00a0floorfiller, in keeping with the dance-centric sound of the original \u2018Confessions\u00a0Of\u00a0A\u00a0Dance Floor\u2019 album. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0really hard\u00a0for me to trust people \/ Can you blame me? \/ I never know why people like me \/\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0why I like to go dancing \/ Safety in numbers,\u201d Madonna sings, over\u00a0an interpolation of Lil Louis\u2019 1989 Chicago house classic \u2018French Kiss\u2019.<\/p>\n

Madonna dropped the new album news on Instagram on Wednesday (April 15), unveiling the pink and lilac cover art and sharing the title and release date in the caption.<\/p>\n

On her website, the record is available to\u00a0pre-order now<\/a>\u00a0and comes in two variations: a standard issue of the album which features 12 songs and a deluxe version that\u00a0contains\u00a0four bonus tracks.<\/p>\n

She has also said the new record is best summed up in the opening lines of the track \u2018One Step Away\u2019: \u201cPeople think that dance music is superficial,\u00a0but\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a\u00a0place,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces\u00a0language\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u2018Confessions II\u2019 sees the queen of pop reunite with the producer of the original album,\u00a0Stuart Price<\/a>, whom she already\u00a0revealed she had been working with back in December 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto: We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies,\u201d Madonna explained. \u201cThese are things that\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0been doing for thousands of years \u2014 they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0a place where you connect \u2014with your wounds, with your fragility.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo rave is an art.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people,\u201d she added. \u201cSound, light, and vibration reshape our\u00a0perceptions, pulling us into a trance-like state. The repetition of the bass, we\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0just hear\u00a0it\u00a0but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The original \u2018Confessions\u2019 album featured singles \u2018Hung Up\u2019,\u00a0\u2018Sorry\u2019,\u00a0\u2018Get Together\u2019 and \u2018Jump\u2019,\u00a0and went on to win the award for Best Electronic\/Dance Album at the 2007 Grammys. It also sold\u00a0roughly 4million\u00a0copies worldwide in its first\u00a0week, and\u00a0earned a place in the 2007\u00a0Guinness World Records\u00a0after topping the charts in over 40 countries.<\/p>\n

\u2018Confessions II\u2019 will be Madonna\u2019s first record since her 14th album \u2018Madame X<\/a>\u2019, which arrived in 2019.<\/p>\n

Around the time of that release, the \u2018Like A Virgin\u2019 singer\u00a0spoke to\u00a0NME\u00a0about her relationship with being in the public eye<\/a>. \u201cIt has its pluses and minuses,\u201d she revealed. \u201cThe great thing about being famous is that you have a voice and you can spread messages and fight for people who don\u2019t have the ability to fight for themselves, and share your wealth with people who need help.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for other new Madonna music, last month producer\u00a0William Orbit revealed that he had written a \u201csuccessor\u201d to the classic Madonna album \u2018Ray Of Light\u2019<\/a>, but claimed to have had \u201cnil response\u201d from the singer.<\/p>\n

There is also a biopic on the way about the \u2018Material Girl\u2019 singer, and while no release date has been shared yet, it will see\u00a0Julia Garner take on the lead role<\/a>\u00a0and Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy will be involved.<\/a><\/p>\n

Fans have also been\u00a0speculating\u00a0that\u00a0Madonna will be making a surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s\u00a0second\u00a0headline set at Coachella<\/a>\u00a0this weekend.<\/p>\n
