\n\tIt seems Robert Smith<\/a> will be hearing Olivia Rodrigo<\/a>\u2018s new single \u201cDrop Dead\u201d<\/a> for the first time today, despite being referenced on the synth-heavy track. \u201cYou know all the words to \u2018Just Like Heaven\u2019\/And I know why he wrote them now that you\u2019re standing right here,\u201d the pop star sings in the first verse.<\/p>\n \n\tIn a new interview<\/a> for Apple Music 1\u2019s\u00a0New Music Daily with Zane Lowe, Rodrigo was asked about Smith\u2019s reaction to track, given those lines. \u201cOh my god. I actually don\u2019t know if I played it for him. He might hear it today,\u201d she responded with genuine surprise. \u201cI played him a bunch of other songs on the album,\u201d she added, referring to her forthcoming LP You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n\tLast summer, Smith joined<\/a> Rodrigo onstage for her memorable Glastonbury set<\/a> to sing a couple of the Cure<\/a>\u2018s Eighties hits, including \u201cFriday I\u2019m in Love\u201d and \u201cJust Like Heaven.\u201d \u201cI adore him and obviously have gotten a chance to kind of get to know him a little bit over the past year,\u201d Rodrigo told Lowe.<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\tShe went on to recount \u201cone of [her] favorite memories\u201d from the night of the performance. \u201cI wore a t-shirt for the encore that said, \u2018You know all the words to \u201cJust Like Heaven\u201d\u2018 because I knew that the song was coming out and I wanted to like do a little Easter egg,\u201d she said. \u201cI walked backstage to do the quick change and I found out that Robert took a Sharpie at the bottom of my shirt and said, \u2018Or do you?\u2019 I was like, \u2018Oh my god, like he graffitied on this shirt. There\u2019s 100,000 people out there. Am I going to go out in this shirt that like has this thing on it?’\u201d Rodrigo continued: \u201cI was kind of freaking out and I was like whatever, I\u2019m just going to put it on. Honestly, it\u2019s like my favorite outfit I\u2019ve ever worn.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tSmith hasn\u2019t shared his thoughts on \u201cDrop Dead\u201d with the public just yet, but as a known fan, and friend, of Rodrigo\u2019s, he\u2019s probably excited. \u201cShe calls me up quite a bit to talk about clothes and fashion \u2014 and we have enjoyed a couple of memorable nights in the studio together,\u201d he wrote to British Vogue<\/a> for Rodrigo\u2019s cover story.
