Limited-time offer<\/a>.<\/p>\n RUMOUR ON SAINTS\u2019 \u2018GODFATHER OFFER\u2019 TO REID<\/p>\n An AFL great says West Coast Eagles has made a \u2018Godfather offer\u2019 to West Coast young gun Harley Reid worth a jaw-dropping $25 million over 12 years. <\/p>\n Essendon legend Tim Watson revealed the rumour on SEN radio on Tuesday that has \u201cabsolutely got everybody in the footy world spinning.\u201d<\/p>\n It comes ahead of a busy off-season at St Kilda with several moving parts including talk of disharmony behind the scenes from senior players<\/a> while the club tries to re-sign Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and lure Carlton\u2019s Tom De Koning and GWS\u2019 Leek Aleer on massive deals. <\/p>\n And it appears the Saints are also making a huge play for former No. 1 pick Reid, who\u2019s contracted for 2026 but has been linked with a return to Victoria as soon as this off-season.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ve also made a Godfather offer to Harley Reid of $25 million over 12 years. That\u2019s the number that\u2019s coming via the West Coast Eagles at the moment,\u201d former Saints coach Watson said on SEN Breakfast.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not making this up, this is what I was told yesterday, this has absolutely got everybody in the footy world spinning.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the information that I received that the West Coast Eagles believe that there\u2019s been an offer tabled by St Kilda around $25 million over 12 years.\u201d<\/p>\n Tim Watsons says St Kilda has made a \u2018Godfather offer\u2019 to Harley Reid (Photo by Janelle St Pierre\/AFL Photos\/via Getty Images)Source: Getty Images<\/p>\n It comes after reports last month stated Reid\u2019s management had approached West Coast about a potential contract extension<\/a> beyond 2026 including one option that could be worth as much as $20 million. <\/p>\n Watson said he spoke to people \u201coperating in this space\u201d as the Saints look to revamp their list under Ross Lyon. <\/p>\n \u201cThis is unconfirmed but this is what they believe is happening at the moment and that is the reason why St Kilda are currently having some concerns with current players and recontracting because there is still a lot of uncertainty around \u2018Nas\u2019 (Wanganeen-Milera). Whether or not he is going to stay or seek a trade elsewhere,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe suggestion is that this has moved all the way through. They started down here and they\u2019ve continued to rise in their offer to Nas, and it\u2019s still rising. Maybe they haven\u2019t reached the final offer.<\/p>\n \u201cBut the thing that I was told yesterday is that not only are they trying to recontract Nas on a massive contract, \u2018TDK\u2019 (De Koning) on a massive contract, they believe they will get Leek Aleer on around $850-900,000 – which is probably the reason why Cal Wilkie is a little bit unhappy as to where he stands with his contract.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018DOOR AJAR SLIGHTLY\u2019 FOR CURNOW TRADE AMID SWANS WATCH<\/p>\n The door remains \u201cslightly ajar\u201d for a Charlie Curnow trade, despite the Blues reaffirming their stance that both their star forwards, Curnow and Harry McKay, aren\u2019t available.<\/p>\n Herald Sun reporter Jon Ralph revealed on Fox Footy\u2019s On the Couch that Carlton isn\u2019t prepared to trade Curnow or McKay and \u201crepeated that strong stance\u201d following rumblings throughout the year they could be gettable.<\/p>\n It included reports emerging last month stating Curnow was interested in a move to Gold Coast, before the dual Coleman Medalist and Blues shut down the prospect of a trade<\/a>. <\/p>\n But while McKay \u201chas said again he wants to stay and feels loved,\u201d Ralph is still keeping an eye on the Curnow situation.<\/p>\n \u201cCurnow has that door ajar slightly, despite that public stance that he shut down a trade request a couple of weeks back,\u201d Ralph told On the Couch.<\/p>\n \u201cI think he still would love to surf and have a different lifestyle there. And triple premiership Lion Jonathan Brown pondered whether the Swans could still be plotting a play for the 28-year old. <\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t help but think what Sydney would be up to behind the scenes. They\u2019ve had a long history of always having a marquee forward,\u201d Brown said on the program. <\/p>\n \u201cClearly they need one. Joel Amartey is out injured and Hayden McLean and Logan McDonald haven\u2019t played much at all.<\/p>\n \u201cI just wonder if they\u2019d be sniffing around behind the scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n Asked what Curnow would be worth in a deal, Brown said: \u201cA marquee key forward is gong to be up close to two first round picks, that\u2019s the going rate. Clearly teams need them, and Sydney need them.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s going to be an interesting one to watch towards the end of the season. Just because Michael Voss is staying, I don\u2019t reckon it means people are off the table.\u201d<\/p>\n Ralph added that any Curnow offer would need to be \u201ca really compelling package in terms of players\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201c(The Blues) want pacy midfielders and probably need a hard-charging defender,\u201d said.<\/p>\n \u201cI look at someone like Ollie Florent, who seems to be surplus to requirements. And this is not a player who\u2019s been thrown up, but a Braeden Campbell type. If you can find the next Adam Saad with a beautiful kick off half back.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re the kind of packages you would need to put up. It would need to be an absolutely compelling offer.\u201d<\/p>\n Ralph also said the Blues are among Victorian clubs chasing West Coast high-flyer Liam Ryan in hopes of beefing up their small forward stocks. <\/p>\n Foxfooty.com.au<\/a>\u2019s Ben Cotton reported last month<\/a> Ryan was on the Bombers\u2019 radar. <\/p>\n \u201cLiam Ryan is one who has strong interest from clubs like St Kilda, Essendon and Carlton.
