Known as the 27M2D5901A, Philips showed off the upcoming 27in display at a press event in Dubrovnik, Croatia. There’s nothing surprising about the size, but what’s new is a 5K (5120×2880) resolution allied to a 165Hz refresh rate using a Fast IPS panel. If that doesn’t suit your preferences, this multi-mode screen also runs at 330Hz with a QHD resolution (2560×1440). You have the choice of one or the other through scaling. Basic HDR400 support is present, too, which includes displaying up to 95% of the DCI-P3 gamut.

Hooking up to the screen are two HDMI 2.1 inputs, a single Displayport 2.1, along with USBC-C 65W to power your peripherals. I like the fact that a KVM is present, as well, which is useful for powering multiple systems, The hallmarks of premium Evnia are accounted for, including a white chassis surround and Ambiglow and AmbiScape lighting – my lounge TV has three-sided Ambiglow and I wouldn’t give it up easily. A couple of 5W speakers offer basic audio.

Offering sky-high frame rates and a lusty resolution naturally means adaptive synchronisation is present and correct. Philips says this monitor has further Nvidia G-Sync certification. I guess this is being pitched a a productivity workhorse in the day that ably doubles up as a high-framerate gaming screen by night. In that respect, the specs are bang on.

It’s not cheap, mind you. Available from July 2026 onwards and priced at 799 euros, the 27M2D5901A is an interesting monitor that ably marries resolution and refresh rate in one good-looking package.

Philips has announced a new high-end gaming monitor that focusses on both high refresh rates and resolution.
