{"id":615560,"date":"2026-04-18T18:21:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T18:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/615560\/"},"modified":"2026-04-18T18:21:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T18:21:08","slug":"nls4-featuring-max-verstappen-suspended-after-serious-multi-car-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/615560\/","title":{"rendered":"NLS4 featuring Max Verstappen suspended after serious multi-car crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen\u2019s NLS return has been overshadowed by a serious multi-car incident that has led the race to be suspended.<\/p>\n<p>Red Bull F1 driver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/852\/max-verstappen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Verstappen<\/a> returns to the Nurburgring this weekend for the Nurburgring 24 qualifiers, which comprise NLS4 and NLS5.<\/p>\n<p>The opening four-hour race of the weekend began at 5:30pm local time, but was red-flagged with around three hours and 35 minutes remaining.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the red flag was unclear initially, though reports began to surface of a multi-car crash at the Klostertal section of the Nordschleife.<\/p>\n<p>No footage was shown on live broadcasts, though images from car onboards have surfaced showing the aftermath of the incident.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>It is thought that fluid was deposited on the circuit by one car, which led to seven vehicles in total getting caught up in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The race was placed under red flag conditions for well over two hours before being suspended indefinitely by the organisers.<\/p>\n<p>Medical teams have been dispatched to the scene to attend to injured drivers, according to a statement from the organisers.<\/p>\n<p>The full statement on the incident read: \u201cA total of seven vehicles were involved in the multi-vehicle collision in the Klostertal area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose affected include car numbers 27 Wahl\/Ronnefarth\/Dumarey\/Bockmann (Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3);
