SILVER CITY, N.M. (April 18, 2026) \u2013 Lubbock Christian University continued its dominant Lone Star Conference road swing Saturday with a 7-0 sweep of Western New Mexico at the WNMU Tennis Courts, improving to 13-5 overall and 6-2 in league play while extending its road mark to 7-4.

\nThe Lady Chaparrals secured the doubles point with a clean sweep, striking early momentum in order of finish. Andrea De Bernardo and AnaMaria Zoric, ranked No. 4 nationally as a tandem, finished first at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 victory to extend their winning streak, before Kristel Jativa and Ana Sof\u00eda Valero Trevi\u00f1o followed at No. 3 with a 6-4 win. The point was clinched at No. 2, where Oshini Herath and Alexandra Luders edged Eva Guta and Xaviera Melgar 7-6 (8-6), giving LCU a 1-0 lead.

\nSingles play saw LCU quickly pull away, beginning with the first point at No. 1 singles, where Andrea De Bernardo rolled to a 6-1 first-set win before her opponent retired early in the second set, pushing the lead to 2-0. Kristel Jativa followed as the second match off court, dominating at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-1 decision to make it 3-0. Aitanna Moreno Villa added the clinching point at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory as the third completed match, securing the dual for LCU.

\nThe Lady Chaps closed out the sweep with three additional straight-set wins. Ana Sof\u00eda Valero Trevi\u00f1o extended the lead at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-2 win, Oshini Herath followed at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory, and AnaMaria Zoric capped the match in a tightly contested three-set battle at No. 2, rallying for a 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 win to complete the 7-0 result.

\nLCU’s depth again proved decisive, as Kristel Jativa and AnaMaria Zoric each moved into a share of the team lead with 19 singles wins on the season, while Moreno Villa improved to 11-7 overall. De Bernardo advanced to 17-9 on the year and 11-5 in dual play at the No. 1 position. In doubles, the No. 4-ranked pair of De Bernardo and Zoric earned its 16th victory of the season (16-2 overall, 15-1 in duals), extending its winning streak to seven matches, while Jativa and Valero Trevi\u00f1o improved to 15-10 overall and 11-5 at the No. 3 position.

\nThe win marked LCU’s fourth consecutive victory over Western New Mexico and its sixth shutout of the season, as the Lady Chaparrals recorded their second straight 7-0 result. LCU will return home Thursday to host Texas A&M-Kingsville in Lone Star Conference play at the Penny Gullo Tennis Center.
