{"id":616156,"date":"2026-04-19T01:27:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T01:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/616156\/"},"modified":"2026-04-19T01:27:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T01:27:17","slug":"nascar-news-carson-kvapil-flips-at-kansas-speedway-during-oreilly-series-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/616156\/","title":{"rendered":"NASCAR news: Carson Kvapil flips at Kansas Speedway during O&#8217;Reilly Series race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/carson-kvapil-crash.jpg\" alt=\"\u2018Heck of a ride\u2019: NASCAR race stopped by ugly rollover\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCarson Kvapil&#8217;s #1 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro flipped on Lap 2 of the NASCAR O&#8217;Reilly Auto Parts Series at Kansas Speedway.<\/p>\n<p>Kvapil started from first after inclement weather cancelled practice and qualifying, meaning the first laps were cut during the 200-lapper.<\/p>\n<p>Kvapil was fighting for the lead with the #88 Hendrick Motorsports\u2019 Chevrolet Camaro driven by William Byron when he got tipped into a spin.<\/p>\n<p>The #1 JR Motorsports driver had his teammate Justin Allgaier in the #7 Camaro to his right exiting Turn 2 and appeared to be giving him space.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the incident, Kvapil suggested that Byron did not know the trio were three-wide and got into the left rear of the #1 car.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fcttn.com\/products\/v8s-in-nz-tee\" rel=\"nofollow sponsored noopener\" data-bid=\"1\" data-no-instant=\"1\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.b-cdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/3-1.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kvapil spun before being hit by the #99 Viking Motorsports Camaro of Parker Retzlaff and got launched into the air, triggering a series of rollovers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot too fun,\u201d said Kvapil after being released from the infield care centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t actually think it was going to flip over like that. Once it started doing that it didn\u2019t really seem too bad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy biggest thing is I just hate it for this whole #1 Bass Pro Shops team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRodney [Childers] and these guys brought a really fast race car and I was just hoping to get through the first couple of laps and kind of sort it out and fall in behind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t really get to that point. All in all, it was one heck of a ride.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was not ready for that. Just hate it for all the guys again. Everyone at the JR Motorsports race shop, Hendrick Motors, everyone at the fab shop. I thought we were all pretty aggressive to start and thought the #7 team was going to stay behind me probably, but it seemed like the top really had some good grip.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just trying to get through the first lap or two.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was going to move up the next corner and block runs but the #7 got outside of me there off of [turn] two.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess the #88 didn\u2019t realise we were three-wide. It was hard to tell.
