BOONE, N.C. \u2014 Spring Ball 2026 for App State Football concluded Saturday with the Battle at The Rock, giving fans a first-hand look at several scores under a bright High Country sun.<\/p>\n
With temperatures in the high 70s on a picturesque afternoon, the Mountaineers went through roughly two hours of on-field workouts, including extended scrimmage periods, red-zone scenarios and end-of-game situations.<\/p>\n
Head coach\u00a0Dowell Loggains<\/a>\u00a0is entering his second season in Boone, and there are 66 newcomers on the 2026 roster. That includes 35 transfer portal newcomers from NCAA institutions and 29 December signees.<\/p>\n “I thought we had a really good spring,” Loggains said. “It was really hard. We got better, and we need to take that next step. We need to finish strong academically, get ready for summer and get ready for fall.”<\/p>\n With no tackling allowed Saturday and many plays continuing after backfield pressure from quarterback-pursuing defenders, the 11-on-11 scrimmage sessions included two touchdowns that capped 75-yard drives: Henry Hasselbeck’s<\/a> 18-yard touchdown pass to Doopah Coleman<\/a> and Malachi Singleton’s<\/a> 6-yard touchdown pass to Chris Lofton<\/a>.<\/p>\n Red-zone sessions were highlighted by Singleton’s 13-yard touchdown pass to running back Jaquari Lewis<\/a> and Tommy Ulatowski’s<\/a> 11-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Grier<\/a>.<\/p>\n Singleton and Hasselbeck combined to complete more than 70 percent of their throws, with Singleton gaining 31 yards on one scramble and Hasselbeck covering 27 yards on another.<\/p>\n The kicking game got plenty of opportunities in end-of-half, red-zone and end-of-game situations, plus one special teams-centric session.<\/p>\n James London<\/a> converted seven field goals, highlighted by a 56-yarder before he had the distance on a 60-yarder that sailed wide. Local product Carter Everett<\/a>, a redshirt senior from Boone, drew some of the biggest cheers on his two conversions.<\/p>\n In end-of-game situations, London capped a scoring march with a 37-yard kick and Everett made a 42-yard attempt.<\/p>\n Defensively, with different groupings on the field, sacks weren’t officially recorded, but pressure came from the likes of Caleb Sandstrom<\/a>, Caleb Pitts<\/a>, Aiden Benton<\/a>, Jehchys Brown<\/a>, Keaton Braddock<\/a>, Jackson Briley<\/a>, Manny Lewis<\/a>, Kelvin Crawford<\/a> and Keshawn Thomas<\/a>. Kevin Henderson<\/a> and Josh Williams<\/a> broke up deep passes near the end zone, and Kavin White<\/a> made an interception on a play that continued after a potential sack.<\/p>\n The biggest gain of the day was Alex Sanchez’<\/a> 32-yard reception on a pass from Ulatowksi, while Semaj Fleming<\/a> had several double-digit gains, and tight end Dillon Galloway<\/a> drew cheers with a one-handed grab in traffic.
