April 19, 2026<\/a><\/p>\nSpeaking after the incident, a calm Kostecki offered his view of the events.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was just an interesting thing,\u201d he said on Fox Sports\u2019 coverage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI seem to have a real issue with that corner and being in the dust. Interesting.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously disappointed not to walk away with the trophy, but that\u2019s how it goes. The officials made their call on the penalty and that\u2019s really about it. I don\u2019t have nothing else to add.<\/p>\n
\u201cI got a fair way up the inside and I think he saw that I was coming pretty late and tried to turn in but I was already up a fair way, so it put me up on the grass there,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t run him off the road on exit or anything. I gave him a car length because I\u2019m not about that and then obviously the rest happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cInteresting, but glad I didn\u2019t take out any other cars obviously and I believe there\u2019s a flag post there as well, so glad nothing serious happened. It\u2019s the way it goes sometimes.<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes you\u2019re the bug and sometimes you\u2019re the windscreen. We\u2019ll go back, send the cars back in the container and try to be better.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked about the muted reaction to the clash, Kostecki said it was still early days in the Supercars season.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow many rounds are we in? It\u2019s the fourth round in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe championship concludes on that Sunday at Adelaide.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mostert, meanwhile, laid some of the blame on interlocking wheels while questioning Kostecki\u2019s move.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst of all, not the outcome we wanted after that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrodie was pretty adventurous down there at [turn] two and bowled me wide, so I let him know I was pretty upset with it.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike I said, it wasn\u2019t my intention for sure. We made wheel-to-wheel contact and the thing just spat me sideways. Then the last one, obviously whiplashed Brodie off.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked if he would speak to Kostecki, Mostert said: \u201cI\u2019m trying to find him but I\u2019m pretty sure he doesn\u2019t want to talk to me right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
After those interviews, the pair were seen speaking together.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe details of that conversation have yet to come to light, though Fox Sports commentator Garth Tander characterised what would likely have been said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s good to see this happening,\u201d said Tander.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey won\u2019t agree at the conclusion of this conversation, but at least they\u2019re seeing and hearing each other\u2019s point of view live, not second-hand through the media or something else.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat a surprise. Two drivers with a different opinion of an incident.\u201d<\/p>\n
