IT is the clash that will be talked about for a long time, with Chaz Mostert<\/a> coming together with Brodie Kostecki<\/a> in the closing laps of the final Supercars race from Ruapuna Raceway.<\/p>\n

Following a late race safety car, Kostecki needed to pass Mostert to seal the Jason Richards<\/a> Trophy, with the Shell V-Power Racing driver making a forceful move down the inside at turn 2.<\/p>\n

The pair subsequently tangled exiting the corner, with Kostecki sent off the circuit at high speed, lucky not to be collected in the dust cloud on the exit of turn 3.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, with a 30-second penalty, Mostert was classified 17th in the race, one position ahead of Kostecki.<\/p>\n

For Kostecki, the loss of a potential JR Trophy was a tough pill to swallow.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just an interesting thing,\u201d said Kostecki.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI seem to have a real issue with that corner and being in the dust (after an off-track excursion led to overheating yesterday).<\/p>\n

\u201cInteresting, obviously disappointed not to walk away with the trophy, that\u2019s how it goes, the officials made their call on the penalty, and that\u2019s really about it.<\/p>\n

\u201c(At turn 2) I actually got a fair way up the inside, and I think that he saw I was coming pretty late, and tried to turn in, but I was up the inside a fair way, but it put me up on the grass there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t run him off the road on exit or anything, I gave him a car length, I\u2019m sort of not about that, and then the rest happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cInteresting, glad I didn\u2019t take out any other cars, and I believe there is a flag post there as well.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cGlad nothing serious happened, that\u2019s the way it goes sometimes, sometimes you\u2019re the bug, and sometimes you\u2019re the windscreen.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his part, Mostert took responsibility for the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, not the outcome I wanted after that,\u201d said Mostert.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrodie was pretty adventurous down at 2, and bowled me wide, so I let him know that I was pretty upset with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut like I said, that wasn\u2019t my intention for sure.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made wheel-to-wheel contact, and the thing just spat me sideways, and the last one whiplashed Brodie off, so not ideal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to find him, but I\u2019m pretty sure he doesn\u2019t want to talk to me right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Broc Feeney<\/a>, who prevailed in winning the JR Trophy, had a box seat for the action.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t actually know that me and Brodie were tied on that restart, so if he got that move done, that was the trophy,\u201d said Feeney.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I\u2019m sure that\u2019s why the message was passed on to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw him make the move up the inside at 2, and then Chaz fed him a wheel, you know, to be honest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI obviously had a bit of a run-in with (Mostert) at Taup\u014d last week, and obviously it\u2019s not too good to be honest.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously heads up by Brodie to get on the gas and really try and get out of the way, if he hit another car there it would have been huge.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is racing hard out there, obviously it\u2019s hard to react on too much, it looks like there wasn\u2019t too much room left.\u201d<\/p>\n
