UFC Winnipeg went down last night (Sat., April 18, 2026) inside inside Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In the main event of the evening. Mike Malott scored a stunning stoppage victory over Gilbert Burns in round three (see it again here<\/a>). In the co-main event, Charles Jourdain defeated Kyler Phillips via unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

Biggest Winner: Mike Malott<\/p>\n

This one is a given seeing as how Malott secured perhaps the biggest win of his surging career against a grizzled veteran in Burns. Malott\u2019s knockout win <\/a>over \u201cDurinho\u201d elevates his UFC record to 7-1, winning his last four fights, two via knockout. This victory will finally put him in the Top 15, meaning his fights will only get tougher. To make his night even sweet, \u201cProper\u201d walked away with a nice $100,000 post-fight bonus award (details here<\/a>). Malott is only getting better with more experience inside the Octagon, which isn\u2019t good news for his future foes.<\/p>\n

Runner (s) Up: Marcio Barbosa and Jai Herbert<\/p>\n

Barbosa made a quick impression in his UFC debut by knocking out Dennis Buzukja just 80 seconds into the fight (see it again here<\/a>), which earned him a $100,000 post-fight bonus award<\/a>. Now on a five-fight win streak, Barbosa is on track to elevate his stock in rapid fashion, but the competition will only get tougher from here. As for Herbert, he and Mandel Nallo put on a show for as long as their fight lasted, but it was the Englishman who rallied to secure a dazzling knockout win (highlights<\/a>). While he missed out on a $100,000 bonus check<\/a>, the win was all-important for him to bounce back from a close split-decision defeat in his last bout against Chris Padilla.<\/p>\n

Biggest Loser: Gilbert Burns<\/p>\n

Burns very much looked like a soon-to-be 40 year-old combat veteran in the twilight of his career against Malott because he was never able to get much going throughout the fight. Once Malott got his rhythm going he started to unload and tag Burns with ease, including one big uppercut after another<\/a> in the third round, which ultimately put the Brazilian bomber away. After the defeat \u2014 his fifth straight \u2014 an emotional Burns put his gloves in the center of the cage, pretty much signaling that his career had come to an end. It\u2019s not the way \u201cDurniho\u201d pictured his UFC career to finish, but I don\u2019t think too many people are surprised at the outcome of the fight.<\/p>\n
