van Gisbergen injury advice for Connor Zilisch after victory lane fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SHANE van Gisbergen has been there, done that when it comes to racing with a broken collarbone, with the Kiwi having some prime advice for Trackhouse Racing teammate Connor Zilisch, who suffered a similar injury in a victory lane fall at Watkins Glen.<\/p>\n<p>Just prior to the 2021 Sandown SuperSprint, van Gisbergen broke a collarbone and three ribs in a mountain bike accident.<\/p>\n<p>After having a metal plate inserted, van Gisbergen went on to demolish the Supercars field, with three convincing race wins, with one coming from 17th on the grid.<\/p>\n<p>SVG subsequently went on to claim the title, before having further post-season surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI broke my collarbone in 2021, left side, mine was a bit out by the AC,\u201d said van Gisbergen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did a bit more damage to my shoulder, and also, I had a fake ligament put in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a weekend off, and then I raced the next week, so pretty much what he\u2019s going to go through.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut once the plate is in there, it\u2019s stronger than the bone was.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d get a plate put in and then take it out at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/2025-repco-bathurst-1000-official-program?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/2025-repco-bathurst-1000-program_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s obviously going to be in pain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy biggest problem was the tightening of the belts, I could really feel the plate through the skin, and it was a horrible feeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI raced the next week and did pretty well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith some good doctors and some good drugs, he\u2019ll get through the race fine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, he\u2019s in our thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always have bad dreams of slipping over and doing that in front of everyone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(Today) I just got out like I normally did, but I definitely didn\u2019t get on the roof in Victory Lane!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Van Gisbergen and Zilisch are noted as being friends off-track, and on-track, they have raced closely on the occasions the Kiwi has moonlighted in the second-tier Xfinity Series this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/van-gisbergen-crashed-out-of-watkins-glen-xfinity-race\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Their battle came to a head on the weekend when Zilisch tipped van Gisbergen into the wall whilst battling for the lead.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Zilisch went on to win the race before he suffered his post-race
