Madonna<\/a> is officially turning one of the most beloved albums of her career into a new era.<\/p>\n

According to Pitchfork<\/a>, on Tuesday, April 14, the pop icon wiped her Instagram feed, updated her bio with the line \u201cTime goes by so slowly\u2026,\u201d and quietly launched a new page on her official website featuring the words \u201cConfessions II\u201d alongside what appears to be the project\u2019s artwork.<\/p>\n

The rollout is the clearest sign yet that Madonna is preparing a follow-up to 2005\u2019s Confessions on a Dance Floor<\/a>, the Grammy-winning album that helped revive her career in the mid-2000s. While she has not announced a release date or revealed an official title beyond the \u201cConfessions II\u201d tease, the latest move suggests the project is much further along than fans previously realized.<\/p>\n

Madonna first hinted at the album in late 2024, when she shared studio footage with producer Stuart Price, the architect of the original Confessions on a Dance Floor.<\/p>\n

Last year, Madonna also confirmed that she had returned to Warner Records, the label behind every one of her studio albums from her 1983 debut through 2008\u2019s Hard Candy.<\/p>\n

The 2005 album remains one of the defining releases of Madonna\u2019s catalog. Built like a continuous DJ set, the record blended disco, electronic music, and club-pop into a seamless 56-minute mix. It produced a string of global hits, including \u201cHung Up,\u201d which topped the charts in 41 countries, and \u201cSorry,\u201d which became Madonna\u2019s 12th No. 1 single in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

At the time, Madonna said she wanted to move away from the anger and politics that shaped 2003\u2019s American Life. \u201cI just want to have fun; I want to dance; I want to feel buoyant,\u201d she said while promoting the album.<\/p>\n

That shift paid off. Confessions on a Dance Floor debuted at No. 1 in dozens of countries, sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, and earned Madonna a Grammy for Best Electronic\/Dance Album.<\/p>\n

The renewed focus on the era comes after several years during which Madonna largely revisited her past work rather than releasing a new studio album. Since 2019\u2019s Madame X, she has put out the remix collection Finally Enough Love, released the long-rumored Veronica Electronica project tied to Ray of Light, and collaborated with artists including Beyonc\u00e9, Fireboy DML, Sam Smith, and Tokischa.<\/p>\n

Her reworked version of \u201cHung Up\u201d with Tokischa in 2022 also hinted that she was not finished with the Confessions universe.<\/p>\n

Madonna\u2019s next chapter arrives as interest in the original album is arguably stronger than ever. A 20th-anniversary edition of Confessions on a Dance Floor arrived last year with bonus tracks and new remixes, introducing the record to a younger generation that already knew of its influence through artists like Dua Lipa and Romy.<\/p>\n

Even Madonna\u2019s abandoned biopic starring Julia Garner continues to linger in pop culture, with reports that the canceled project will be referenced in the second season of Apple TV+\u2019s The Studio.<\/p>\n
