The team behind Upperhand Burgers in Swanbourne took to social media on Monday morning to announce the heartbreaking news to their thousands of loyal fans.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter more than eight years at the heart of Perth\u2019s burger scene, the time has come for us to close our doors,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n
The crew behind the Claremont Crescent eatery thanked their diners for the years of support and for \u201cbuilding a weekly ritual\u201d around the restaurant.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re incredibly proud of what we\u2019ve built and deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us over the last eight years,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the early days of experimenting with smash patties and Asian inspired sides, to the moment we realised boba tea and burgers were actually a perfect pairing for Perth.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been an unforgettable ride.\u201d<\/p>\n
Upperhand was opened by two local families back in 2018 who made the bold decision to offer their smash patties on potato buns \u2014 a pairing that has been since become a staple among other Perth burger joints.<\/p>\n
The restaurant is also crowned as the first place in the world to pair smash burgers with boba ice tea \u2014 a beloved combo that added an unexpected Asian fusion to the classic Western dish.<\/p>\n

Loyal patrons wanting to savour one last Upperhand burger are in luck, as there are still two weeks before the Swanbourne venue closes for the final time.<\/p>\n
DJ sets and live music will continue at the restaurant until its final day of trading on Sunday May 3.<\/p>\n
The burger joint will also continue serving up their fan-favourite special of $6 cheeseburgers each Wednesday.<\/p>\n
It may not be the end of Upperhand Burgers, however, with the restaurant teasing that \u201cthis isn\u2019t a goodbye but a see you later\u201d.<\/p>\n
It is unclear exactly why the restaurant has made the decision to close its doors, but the news follows a string of restaurants across Perth closing in recent months.<\/p>\n
