\u201cThe Brisbane Broncos can confirm Payne Haas suffered a Grade 3 MCL injury in Saturday night\u2019s game against the Wests Tigers,\u201d the Broncos said in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on early medical assessments, Haas is expected to be sidelined for approximately 6-8 weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
That means Haas will miss at least State of Origin Game 1 for the NSW Blues on May 27 and is no certainty to be fit for Game 2 on June 17 either, which is in eight weeks\u2019 time.<\/p>\n
It is a devastating blow for both NSW and the Broncos, who will have to deal without the best prop in the game.<\/p>\n
Corey Jensen hospitalised with clot on lung<\/p>\n
The bad news for Brisbane stars doesn\u2019t stop there either with fellow forward Corey Jensen rushed to hospital with a blood clot on his lung.<\/p>\n
Jensen suffered a pulmonary embolism after the Tigers match and he is currently under observation in hospital.<\/p>\n
While his timeframe for recovery is not yet clear it is expected he will also miss the next several weeks.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, in more bad news for Brisbane Kotoni Staggs suffered a plantar fascia strain and Jesse Arthars teared his interosseous membrane in his ankle.<\/p>\n
It means Brisbane could be without as many as 12 players for the round 8 clash, adding to the mounting injury list which includes Ben Hunt (knee), Reece Walsh (cheekbone), Pat Carrigan (suspended), Blake Mozer (jaw) and Billy Walters (knee).<\/p>\n
In one bit of good news for the Broncos, hooker Cory Paix is expected to return against the Bulldogs after missing the last game due to concussion.<\/p>\n
