Jon Rahm may have won in Mexico City, but LIV Golf\u2019s week south of the border was clouded with rumors regarding its future<\/a>. Eventually, it was reported that Saudi Arabia\u2019s Public Investment Fund would be pulling its support after the 2026 season<\/a>. Scott O\u2019Neil, the league\u2019s CEO, all but confirmed this in an interview that was taken down and reposted with that tidbit redacted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, the future of its biggest star is very much in doubt.<\/p>\n

According to The Athletic<\/a>, Bryson DeChambeau met with multiple organizations during Masters week to discuss options if he were to leave LIV at the end of the year. With his contract set to expire, The Athletic reported that he could seek $500 million<\/a> to re-sign. Without the PIF, that number would put LIV\u2019s chances of getting DeChambeau back in the improbable range.<\/p>\n

Also included in The Athletic\u2019s report is a conversation between Rahm and DeChambeau<\/a> on the practice green prior to the first round, a talk that left nearly a dozen other players distracted. The topic of said discussion is unknown.<\/p>\n

While Rahm won, DeChambeau eventually withdrew from the tournament Sunday<\/a>, citing wrist discomfort.<\/p>\n

LIV has one event remaining before the PGA Championship\u2014LIV Golf Virginia from May 7-10\u2014and eight total for the rest of its season.<\/p>\n
