DENVER, Colo. – Millbury native Ryan Ward made his long-awaited MLB debut at Coors Field on Sunday as a member of the Dodgers.<\/p>\n
Ward spent the last seven years in the Los Angeles minor league system.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old played first base, going 2 for 5 with an RBI.<\/p>\n
His family was at home when they first got the news but got to see him play in person for his first big league game.<\/p>\n
“My wife was jumping up and down,” Ward’s father said. “I was more numb, like, ‘Oh my God, this is really happening.'”<\/p>\n
“Mom, were there tears?”<\/p>\n
