Football Victoria\u2019s (FV) ongoing commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion has been recognised with Silver Status in the Pride in Sport Index for 2025, acknowledging the organisation\u2019s continued work in creating safe, welcoming and inclusive environments across the game.<\/p>\n
The Australian Pride in Sport Awards recognise sporting clubs, codes, media outlets, community initiatives and role models for their leadership in creating safe, welcoming and inclusive environments.<\/p>\n
FV Executive Manager Equity, Programs and Government Relations Karen Pearce said the recognition reflects the organisation\u2019s ongoing commitment to inclusion across the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cAchieving Silver Status in the Pride in Sport Index is an important reflection of the work being done across Football Victoria to ensure LGBTQ+ people feel safe, welcomed and included in our game,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe remain committed to embedding inclusive practices across all levels of football, and continuing to create environments where everyone can belong, participate and thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n
FV also acknowledges that LGBTQ+ inclusion is an ongoing journey, and there is still more work to do to ensure all participants feel safe and welcomed in football.<\/p>\n
