A new Prince<\/a> recording, \u201cWith This Tear,\u201d has been released from the artist\u2019s legendarily filled musical vault through his NPG Records and Legacy Recordings.<\/p>\n

Prince composed, produced, and performed all the instruments for\u00a0the tender, piano-driven ballad, which was recorded at Paisley Park in November 1991.\u00a0The song is newly mixed and mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer and producer Chris James, who worked on Prince\u2019s HITnRUN Phase Two, Art Official Age, and Plectrumelectrum.<\/p>\n

The single is the first release from a series of previously unreleased recordings leading up to a new vault album, according to Prince\u2019s estate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith This Tear\u201d was put out a day before the 10th anniversary of Prince\u2019s death and events at the musician\u2019s famous estate and recording studio, Paisley Park, outside of Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time the composition has been heard. After writing the song, Prince offered it to singer Celine Dion, who recorded a version and released it on her 1992 self-titled album.<\/p>\n

In June, the estate is putting on a celebration of Prince<\/a> that will include a concert featuring Prince band members and more. Chaka Khan, Morris Day, Tevin Campbell, Sounds of Blackness, Cassandra O\u2019Neal, and Bobby Z will be among the participants. Drummer Bobby Z recently recalled a story<\/a> about how Prince didn\u2019t allow his bathroom to be used by admirers Madonna or Bruce Springsteen, showing just how comically lofty the purple-clad guitar slinger was in musical echelons.<\/p>\n
