Powered by a 50\/50 split between electrical and combustion power, energy management, whether through battery harvesting or super clipping, has become the norm, along with lift-and-coast.<\/p>\n<p>Power boosts, dubbed Mario Kart\u2019s \u201cmushroom boost\u201d by the drivers, have led to artificial overtakes, while Oliver Bearman\u2019s huge crash at the Japanese Grand Prix raised safety concerns about the new regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Following a \u201cconstructive\u201d meeting with the Formula 1 drivers as revealed by PlanetF1.com in which they offered \u201cinvaluable input\u201d, Formula 1\u2019s stakeholders met on Monday to discuss this year\u2019s new regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The FIA met with Formula One Management, the Formula 1 team bosses, and the power unit manufacturers and agreed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/fia-f1-2026-rule-changes-meeting\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cnumber of refinements\u201d<\/a> to the regulations.<\/p>\n<p>For qualifying, there is a reduction in the maximum permitted recharge from 8MJ to 7MJ, while peak super clip power increased to 350 kW.<\/p>\n<p>More on F1 2026 regulations<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/toto-wolff-f1-scalpel-not-baseball-bat-rule-vote\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Toto Wolff warns against \u2018baseball bat\u2019 treatment over F1 2026 rule changes<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/max-verstappen-fia-f1-retirement-meeting\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Something has to change\u2019 \u2013 Max Verstappen warns F1 2026 rules remain \u2018fundamentally wrong\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the grands prix, the maximum power available through the Boost will be capped at +150 kW. The MGU-K deployment will be set to 350 kW in key acceleration zones (from corner exit to the braking point, including overtaking zones), but limited to 250 kW elsewhere on the lap.<\/p>\n<p>There are also changes for the race starts with some drivers struggling to get off the line. A new \u2018low power start detection\u2019 system has been developed that will trigger an automatic MGU-K deployment to mitigate start-related risks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/team\/williams\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Williams<\/a> team principal Vowles was the first TP to publicly respond to the changes.<\/p>\n<p>And he believes everything that was decided was for the good of the sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are sensible changes and the teams, FIA and Formula 1 have done good work over the past few weeks to agree them,\u201d Vowles declared on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cF1 has seen some great racing so far this year, but it is right that we always look at ways to keep improving. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to seeing them in action from Miami onwards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Want to be the first to know exclusive information from the F1 paddock?
