{"id":621335,"date":"2026-04-21T12:15:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T12:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/621335\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T12:15:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T12:15:10","slug":"arsenals-stina-blackstenius-signs-new-contract-at-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/621335\/","title":{"rendered":"Arsenal&#8217;s Stina Blackstenius signs new contract at club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a data-player-guid=\"74d78ee0-bf84-8914-7b6f-ad6f42601835\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/240274\/stina-blackstenius\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stina Blackstenius<\/a> has signed a new contract at <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"b01601fc-ede7-63f6-b94b-f08b2f98b476\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/football\/team?id=19973\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arsenal<\/a>, the <a data-league-guid=\"6343e3ed-7aff-3884-8553-50cf970031a6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/football\/league\/_\/name\/ENG.W.1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Women&#8217;s Super League<\/a> side have announced.<\/p>\n<p>The <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"bbcbd33c-6b7a-5014-8fb5-fa60cd55a021\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/football\/team?id=2764\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sweden<\/a> international was out of contract this summer and while Arsenal didn&#8217;t officially announce the duration of her new deal, sources told ESPN it&#8217;s a two-year extension.<\/p>\n<p>The forward, who joined the Gunners in 2022, attained iconic status at the club last year by scoring the winner in their Champions League final triumph over <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"11da6476-874f-3fe8-b621-20393997be4d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/football\/team?id=20091\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barcelona<\/a>. The 30-year-old also scored the winner in successive League Cup finals in 2023 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p>While Blackstenius was largely restricted to a role off the bench last season, coach Renee Slegers has opted to start her alongside <a data-player-guid=\"4d853184-f7e7-36a9-a3bd-a56637c20fb8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/263683\/alessia-russo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alessia Russo<\/a> in the second half of this year&#8217;s campaign to great effect.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>Stina Blackstenius has signed a new contract at Arsenal.\u00a0Getty<\/p>\n<p>She has scored eight goals in all competitions this season, including a key one in their Champions League quarterfinal first leg against <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"f6c1de4b-73c3-ba7f-207e-ec5927d015c5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/football\/team?id=19970\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chelsea<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Blackstenius captained Sweden for the first time in their World Cup qualifiers against <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"b47f81be-5413-347f-8d22-37e636ea2218\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/football\/team?id=20884\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Serbia<\/a> and <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"614c2892-68ef-2595-b8ba-1e47a3afd030\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/football\/team?id=2896\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Denmark<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Stina Blackstenius has signed a new contract at Arsenal, the Women&#8217;s Super League side have announced.
