Shit happens and that&#8217;s what make[s] life beautiful \ud83d\ude42 Onwards!&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Article continues below <\/p>\n<p>            You may like<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Jorgenson had planned his spring campaign around the Ardennes Classics, skipping the cobbles in Belgium in favour of this week of racing, and had just returned from altitude training to race Amstel Gold Race.<\/p>\n<p>However, his Ardennes week came to an abrupt end when <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/kevin-vauquelin\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/kevin-vauquelin\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/kevin-vauquelin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">K\u00e9vin Vauquelin<\/a> (Ineos Grenadiers) slid out on a corner in front of him with 40km, causing the American also to hit the ground hard. His team later confirmed that he had suffered a fractured collarbone.<\/p>\n<p>Despite undergoing surgery and the return from collarbone fractures often being relatively quick with the help of plating, Jorgenson will miss Wednesday&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/la-fleche-wallonne\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/la-fleche-wallonne\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/la-fleche-wallonne\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fl\u00e8che Wallonne<\/a> and Sunday&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/liege-bastogne-liege\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/liege-bastogne-liege\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/liege-bastogne-liege\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone could see that Matteo was in great form, so it\u2019s very frustrating that our race ended this way,&#8221; Visma directeur sportif Frans Maassen said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">The latest race content, interviews, features, reviews and expert buying guides, direct to your inbox!<\/p>\n<p>In Jorgenson&#8217;s absence, his Visma-Lease a Bike team are left scrambling for a leader for the Ardennes Classics, with their Grand Tour star Jonas Vingegaard yet to follow in the footsteps of Tadej Poga\u010dar and Remco Evenepoel and add any one-day racing to his programme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">In previous years, they may have also counted on Simon Yates, but he called time on his career in January. As a result, the Dutch team will likely look to young and relatively inexperienced riders for their chances for results on Wednesday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Even before Jorgenson&#8217;s crash, Britain&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/ben-tulett\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/ben-tulett\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/ben-tulett\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Tulett<\/a> was touted as a secondary leader for Visma, but illness forced him out of Amstel at the weekend, and it is not yet clear if he will return for Fl\u00e8che and Li\u00e8ge. The Norwegian climber comes to the Ardennes off the back of a strong second place overall at <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/o-gran-camino\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/o-gran-camino\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/o-gran-camino\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">O Gran Cami\u00f1o<\/a>, beaten only by Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), but he is still only a second-year WorldTour pro.
