{"id":622294,"date":"2026-04-21T22:44:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T22:44:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/622294\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T22:44:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T22:44:09","slug":"live-nation-says-us-ruling-has-no-bearing-on-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/622294\/","title":{"rendered":"Live Nation Says US Ruling Has &#8216;No Bearing&#8217; on Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Live Nation says a landmark US ruling against the company will have \u201cno bearing\u201d on Australia, but the decision has already reignited calls for investigations into concentration in the local live music industry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/au.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/live-nation-antitrust-trial-local-implications-93896\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">As reported by Rolling Stone AU\/NZ<\/a>, the ruling in the US \u2013 where Live Nation and Ticketmaster were found <a href=\"https:\/\/au.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/live-nation-lawsuit-monopoly-93699\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">liable for monopolisation<\/a> \u2013 has reignited scrutiny of Live Nation\u2019s market power closer to home. This includes calls from industry groups including the Media, Entertainment &amp; Arts Alliance (MEAA), asking for regulators to step in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe US verdict shows that the Australian government and its agencies need to act on repeated calls to launch a similar investigation here in Australia,\u201d Paul Davies, Director of MEAA Musicians, said in a statement to\u00a0Rolling Stone AU\/NZ.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe monopoly we have puts musicians and crew in an unpleasant position, with less and less power, and they\u2019re already suffering low pay and insecure work.
