Former federal Liberal leader Peter Dutton has scored a surprise windfall, after a savvy move delivered a major payday few saw coming.<\/p>\n
In one of the biggest sales of its type across South East Queensland, the Duttons sold a 68.1-hectare property they bought in 2020 \u2013 securing just under three times the price they\u2019d originally paid.<\/p>\n

Property records show the six bedroom, four bathroom lifestyle estate, located about 50km from Brisbane CBD, was sold on January 28 for a massive $6.15 million.<\/p>\n
Aussies got their first real glimpse into the Duttons\u2019 extensive restoration and renovation program when the listing by Vicki Pain of Ray White Dayboro-Eumundi went live in late November.<\/p>\n
The Duttons\u2019 68.1-hectare lifestyle estate was one of the biggest sales in the area, with recent residential Dayboro figures showing houses on 516 sqm to 6,000 sqm blocks fetching $1.125 million to $1.895 million.<\/p>\n
A handful of South East Queensland lifestyle estates over 60 hectares sold for prices ranging from $2.05 million to over $5 million at the time of the listing \u2013 including $2.05 million for a property at Traveston, an hour to Noosa, on a 65.67 hectare block, though a large-scale grazing operation at Miva spanning 1217 hectares (3,008 acres) sold for $5.7 million on November 3.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the sale, Mr Dutton told The Courier-Mail the family \u201cput in a lot of money and effort to refurbish\u201d the property. \u201cIt\u2019s time for us to downsize. Our youngest has just turned 20.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Duttons restored the original farmhouse and added a stunning modern architectural extension with a jaw-dropping stone fireplace made with rocks collected from a creek on site. The luxurious estate had a new wet-edge magnesium pool put in, with a restored full-size tennis court, minigolf, and paddocks suitable for multiple rural uses \u2013 including holding cattle.<\/p>\n
Social groups gushed over the work the family put into it, with some nostalgia from those linked to previous owners: \u201cAlways be Pop\u2019s Farm. Looks absolutely unreal though!\u201d Another added, \u201cI would never have recognised it. It\u2019s absolutely stunning. I love that they kept the old roof.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Pain, the agent representing the property, said earlier that \u201ca lot of care, respect and detail has been put into this property\u201d.<\/p>\n
