The South Australian Cricket Association is pleased to announce a $10 million transformation of Karen Rolton Oval, reinforcing its status as a world\u2011class sporting and community precinct.<\/p>\n
Jointly funded by the State Government and SACA, the significant upgrades will include the installation of new lighting and the development of accessible spectator terracing along the eastern embankment.<\/p>\n
The project will see the oval fitted with new 1500\u2011lux lights, meeting the latest Australian standards for domestic cricket and enhancing the venue\u2019s capability to host elite matches under lights. In addition, the existing 750\u2011lux lights will be relocated to Oval 2, effectively delivering an additional fully lit venue to support cricket and broader community sport.<\/p>\n
New spectator terracing will be constructed on the currently steep and inaccessible eastern embankment, providing much\u2011needed seating for matchdays as well as everyday community use.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The design will incorporate landscaping in keeping with the established aesthetic of Park 25, improving accessibility while enhancing the overall look and functionality of the precinct.<\/p>\n
As a designated Tier 2 venue, Karen Rolton Oval is also equipped to host major events, including international tournaments, when Adelaide Oval is unavailable. The upgraded facilities will further strengthen its role within South Australia\u2019s sporting infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The redevelopment is scheduled for completion in time for a landmark occasion, with the Australian Women\u2019s team set to play two One Day Internationals against New Zealand under lights at the venue for the first time in March 2027.<\/p>\n
SACA Chair and President Will Rayner said the investment represented a major boost for women\u2019s cricket and the broader cricket community in South Australia.<\/p>\n
