Stacey West will step down as chief executive officer of Netball Australia at the end of this week, ending a two-and-a-half-year tenure that has reshaped the sport in this country.<\/p>\n

West, who has spent 16 years with Netball Australia, took over as CEO in December of 2023, after predecessor Kelly Ryan stepped down following a bitter pay dispute with players<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Uncertainties over the details of Netball Australia’s broadcast agreement with Nine left fans hesitant to celebrate. Now we reveal how many games will actually be seen on free-to-air TV.<\/p>\n

Her resignation comes one week after Netball Australia announced a new five-year broadcast rights deal with the Nine Network, and five months after the organisation announced its 10-year plan, Made in Netball.<\/p>\n

“This role has been a labour of love for me,” West said.<\/p>\n

“My commitment to the sport, our people and our athletes, has been a lifelong vocation and the opportunity to contribute to our growth and success has been a privilege.”<\/p>\n

Netball Australia will begin its new free-to-air TV deal with the Nine Network from January 1, 2027.<\/p>\n

A minimum of two Super Netball matches per week will be shown on free-to-air television across the course of the deal.<\/p>\n

West said she was stepping down at a time that the sport was in a strong position to grow.<\/p>\n

“I hand over the reins at the dawn of a new era with the sport poised for continued success,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Super Netball continues to set crowd, audience and membership records.<\/p>\n

“Our new long-term free-to-air broadcast partnership defies market trends and is built off the wonderful product and people who make up this sport.<\/p>\n

“We remain the number one sport for women and girls, and the love and respect in the community for both the high performance and participation aspects of our game is the backbone of our culture and dominance.”<\/p>\n

West will be replaced by Mark Falvo who will take over as interim CEO from Monday. Falvo is the CEO of Netball World Cup Sydney 2027.<\/p>\n

“Mark Falvo has accepted responsibility for the leadership of both our entities, and he will deliver strong value to netball based on his personal expertise and deep knowledge of the Australian and global sporting landscape,” Netball Australia chair Liz Ellis said in a statement.<\/p>\n
