UNIQLO will launch its first collaboration with Japanese label NEEDLES in Australia on April 23, introducing a limited-edition fleece collection.<\/p>\n
The range combines UNIQLO\u2019s LifeWear staples with NEEDLES\u2019 design aesthetic, reworking the retailer\u2019s signature fleece into three items: a full-zip jacket, oversized cardigan and wide pants. The collection will be available in black, grey, beige and purple.<\/p>\n
NEEDLES, founded by Keizo Shimizu under the Nepenthes Group, is known for its distinctive silhouettes and butterfly motif, which feature across the collaboration.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy adding the butterfly motif and silhouette to give UNIQLO\u2019s signature fleece a NEEDLES feel, we have created iconic and special items. We look forward to bringing the world of NEEDLES to a wider audience through this collaboration,\u201d said Shimizu.<\/p>\n
The collection draws on vintage-inspired design elements, including 1970s references in the full-zip jacket, while incorporating NEEDLES\u2019 signature patterns and detailing across the range.<\/p>\n
The launch follows strong demand in the Northern Hemisphere, where the collection sold out quickly in several markets.<\/p>\n
In Australia, the full range will be available across all UNIQLO stores and online, with sizes ranging from XS to 4XL. Select sizes will be exclusive to the online store.<\/p>\n
UNIQLO hosted a pre-release event at its Emporium Melbourne store on April 15, attended by fashion creatives and stylists ahead of the national rollout.<\/p>\n
