{"id":623228,"date":"2026-04-22T09:30:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T09:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/623228\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T09:30:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T09:30:13","slug":"cephalonian-society-of-victoria-o-kefalos-fundraiser-honours-memory-while-supporting-dementia-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/623228\/","title":{"rendered":"Cephalonian Society Of Victoria &#8211; &#8220;O Kefalos&#8221; fundraiser honours memory while supporting dementia research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Melbourne Greek community fundraiser held in memory of Spyridoula Floratos has raised both awareness and support for dementia research, drawing a strong turnout and emotional response from attendees.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the \u00a0Cephalonian Society Of Victoria \u2013 \u201cO Kefalos\u201d inc., the event titled \u201cSo No Memory Is Lost\u201d took place on Sunday 19 April, with all proceeds directed towards dementia research at RMIT University.<\/p>\n<p>More than 90 people attended the event at KEF House, including long-time supporters of the Brotherhood and new members of the community who responded to the call to support a cause affecting a growing number of families.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium_large wp-image-349031 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/tayor2-PRINT_88015-7_48914-768x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"681\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Keynote speaker Vasso Apostolopoulos delivered a presentation on health and longevity, with a focus on dementia. She outlined the nature of the condition, its main forms, and strategies for prevention, while also highlighting ongoing research efforts aimed at treatment and improved care.<\/p>\n<p>A deeply moving moment came with an address by Dimitris Floratos, husband of the late Spyridoula Floratos, who spoke about their life together and her battle with the disease.
