Passengers at Perth Airport Terminal 1 are allowed back into the building after the Australian Federal Police and WA Police investigated a reported unattended bag, but delays are still expected.<\/p>\n

The AFP had urged the public to “avoid the area and await further advice”.<\/p>\n

However, after passengers were stuck outside for almost two hours, they were let back into the airport by 6:30pm.<\/p>\n

“The AFP and [WA Police] investigation at Terminal 1 International has now concluded, and the impacted areas are beginning to reopen,” a statement from Perth Airport read.<\/p>\n

“Delays are expected, and we are working closely with our airline partners and relevant agencies to return operations to normal as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

“Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the latest flight information.”<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, a spokesperson for the airport said an exclusion zone had been set up while police conducted their investigation.<\/p>\n

The Terminal 1 drop-off and pick-up area was temporarily closed.<\/p>\n

Before the airport reopened, crowds could be seen gathering outside the terminal entrance, with several flights impacted, according to passengers who spoke to the ABC.<\/p>\n

One interstate traveller, Austin, said he saw groups of people standing outside the terminal when he arrived for his flight.<\/p>\n
