A Current Affair host Ally Langdon has broken down in tears while interviewing the widow of a tradie who fell to his death – leaving behind two children.<\/p>\n
Kiara Dean\u2019s husband Tyler died in a workplace accident earlier in January, after falling from a roof while working just down the road.<\/p>\n
He was just 34.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the program on Wednesday, Ms Dean recalled the heartbreaking moment police and paramedics were \u201ceverywhere\u201d after the fall.<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew Tyler was working in the street, so I just straight away called him,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe didn\u2019t answer.<\/p>\n
\u201cI tried to call again – he didn\u2019t answer.<\/p>\n
After pulling over, Ms Dean said she saw her husband\u2019s truck in a driveway where emergency services were gathered.<\/p>\n
It was then she knew something was seriously wrong.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just kept saying \u2018he\u2019s had a really bad accident,\u2019\u201d Ms Dean said.<\/p>\n
Tyler was placed on life support at Westmead Hospital, with doctors telling Ms Dean her husband had suffered a catastrophic brain injury from the fall.<\/p>\n
Host Ally Langdon became visibly emotional as Ms Dean described doctors telling her the injury was \u201cinoperable\u201d and \u201cunsurviveable\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just started screaming \u2018no, no,\u2019\u201d Ms Dean said.<\/p>\n
The program delved deep into Kiara and Tyler\u2019s marriage – showing family photos of the tradie playing with his two boys and video of the pair\u2019s wedding.<\/p>\n
Ms Dean told the program an ICU doctor who lived at the home where Tyler was working immediately started CPR after the fall.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he wasn\u2019t kept breathing by that man – which was by pure coincidence – there would have been no organ donation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere would have been no time to say goodbye in hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Langdon noted: \u201cYou got 48 hours to be by his side?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, yeah,\u201d Ms Dean replied, adding she slept next to her husband in the hospital and held his hand.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust being able to hold him, hold his hand… I\u2019ll always be really grateful for that time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tyler was a registered donor and had spoken to his wife about his wishes.<\/p>\n
Ms Langdon ran through how Tyler\u2019s organs had given others a new chance at life – including how a 57-year-old man received his heart and a 63-year-old man received his lungs.<\/p>\n
Tyler\u2019s right kidney was given to a girl, 17, and a woman received his left kidney and pancreas.<\/p>\n
A portion of his liver went to a 53-year-old woman and a portion of his liver went to a 9-year-old girl.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe did all of that,\u201d Ms Langdon explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn a way… he does live on, in six other beautiful humans, who have been given a second chance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Dean said she would tell her boys about how involved their father was in their lives as they grew up.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want them to know that he loved me a lot, and he loved them a lot, and he was very proud,\u201d she tearfully said.<\/p>\n
A GoFundMe has been set up for the family on behalf of Ms Dean\u2019s friend Sheridan Teuma.<\/p>\n
\u201cTyler was an incredibly hard worker, a deeply loving husband and an extraordinary father,\u201d she wrote on the fundraiser, which has raised $288,490 of its $300,000 goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything he did was for his family. He worked tirelessly to build a secure, stable and rewarding future for Kiara and their boys.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne filled with love, opportunity, and presence.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat life and those dreams have been tragically cut short.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Teuma described Tyler as a \u201ctruly wonderful person who was loved by so many\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was generous, funny, kind and endlessly supportive to everyone around him. He has left an immeasurable hole in the lives of his family, friends, and community.
