A terminal at a major Australian airport is back up and running after it was shut down for more than two hours while police investigated an unattended bag.<\/p>\n

Plans were thrown into chaos about 4pm on Wednesday, when an exclusion zone was set up at Perth Airport\u2019s terminal one, which handles international travel.<\/p>\n

But passengers have now been allowed back into the building.<\/p>\n

7NEWS earlier reported that thousands of travellers were affected, either stuck outside or being escorted through alternative exits.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve said the planes will not be taking off \u2014 they\u2019re all grounded, so we should get our flight,\u201d one traveller said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt might stuff up our connection flight in New Zealand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another said traffic is \u201cjust ridiculous\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t know what\u2019s happening,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

A third said she had heard \u201cnothing\u201d about what had happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cBit annoyed because I\u2019m meant to be on the plane right now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Check-in desks were closed, and all staff were removed from the terminal.<\/p>\n

Arriving passengers were also being held.<\/p>\n

Travellers have been warned to allow extra time for check-in when they arrive at Perth Airport on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n
