ROME, Ga. \u2013 Georgia Southern advanced its sticker on the bracket at the 2026 Sun Belt Women\u2019s Tennis Championship at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in the first round on Wednesday.

\nNo. 12 seed Georgia Southern (9-12) used the momentum from the early doubles point to secure the 4-1 victory over No. 13 seed Georgia State (5-14).

\nGeorgia State\u2019s Sveva Bernardi and Sara Radojevic won on court two 6-2 to start the doubles matches. Georgia Southern\u2019s Franzi Heinemann and Nanake Kijima won 6-0 on court three as Angelina Mihajlovic and Evelyn Warkentin won 6-3 on court one to secure the early 1-0 advantage.

\nIn singles, the Panthers tied the match at one as Maria Paredes earned the 6-1, 6-0 victory on court one. Amelie Rosadoro gave the Eagles the 2-1 advantage on court four as teammate Heinemann won 6-3, 6-2 on court three to put Georgia Southern one match away from advancing. Mihajlovic won her match 6-3, 6-2 on court two to send the Eagles to the next round.
