Liam Rosenior’s<\/a> short tenure as Chelsea<\/a> manager came to an end on Wednesday evening, when the Stamford Bridge club released a statement confirming that it had parted ways with the 41-year-old head coach. Hired on an interim basis from sister club Strasbourg<\/a> to replace Enzo Maresca<\/a>, Rosenior had only been in charge of the Chelsea first team for 23 games and 104 days. However, following a string of bad results and his points per game average in all competitions dropping to 1.52, the London club were seemingly forced to act. Rosenior is replaced by Calum McFarlane<\/a>, who will take over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “This has not been a decision the club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season,” read a statement on Chelsea’s website. It added: “As the club works to bring stability to the head coach position, we will undertake a process of self-reflection to make the right long-term appointment.”<\/p>\n \nLiam Rosenior\u2019s Premier League record compared to Chelsea managers<\/p>\n We\u2019ve analysed Transfermarkt’s vast database to calculate every Chelsea manager\u2019s points per game record in the Premier League since 2000 – we\u2019ve excluded Gianluca Vialli<\/a> as his spell spanned across two centuries. Worryingly for Rosenior, the 41-year-old\u2019s record was the second worst of the 17 permanent managers that Chelsea have installed this century. His record of 1.31 ppg from his 13 games in charge was only marginally superior to Graham Potter (1.27).<\/p>\n With only one win in his last nine Premier League games, Chelsea’s defeat to Brighton Tuesday night was clearly the last straw for the decision makers at Chelsea. However, as the table above shows, no recent managerial apppointment at Stamford Bridge has come anywhere close to the success of yesteryear. Chelsea have won five Premier League titles since 2000 under three managers, Jos\u00e9 Mourinho<\/a>, Antonio Conte<\/a> and Carlo Ancelotti<\/a>. But interestingly the legendary trio are eclipsed in the ppg ranking by Avram Grant<\/a>.
