{"id":624383,"date":"2026-04-22T21:54:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T21:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/624383\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T21:54:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T21:54:11","slug":"google-will-fix-an-android-xr-bug-thats-ruining-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/624383\/","title":{"rendered":"Google will fix an Android XR bug that&#8217;s ruining performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<img width=\"1600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Galaxy-XR-11.jpg\" class=\"skip-lazy wp-post-image\" alt=\"\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p>An ongoing bug with Android XR has left Samsung\u2019s Galaxy XR headsets in rough shape, with serious performance issues that Google is aware of and working to fix.<\/p>\n<p>Reports from Samsung Galaxy XR owners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Galaxy_XR\/comments\/1srmqv6\/buyer_beware\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">on Reddit<\/a> have pinpointed some serious performance issues that  leave the headsets, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Galaxy_XR\/comments\/1srmqv6\/comment\/ohgxpjp\/?context=3#:~:text=functionally%20useless\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">described <\/a>by one user, \u201cfunctionally useless.\u201d Framerates within apps and the general UI slow to a crawl, if the headset doesn\u2019t freeze entirely.<\/p>\n<p>Users <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AndroidXR\/comments\/1srb7ds\/comment\/ohgxwel\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">have noticed<\/a> that the problem is related to a memory leak.<\/p>\n<p>Google has confirmed it is aware of the issue, with Grace, a Community Engagement Manager, explaining:<\/p>\n<p>\tAdvertisement &#8211; scroll for more content<\/p>\n<p>Hey everyone, I\u2019ve been following the comments here and I want to acknowledge your concerns. It is clear that the current experience is not meeting expectations, and I fully understand your frustration.<\/p>\n<p>The team is fully aware of this issue and we have made getting a patch out to everyone our absolute top priority. I will post an update as soon as we have a concrete timeline for the fix.
