He leads the rankings across three tours. That includes the Asian Tour Order of Merit, the International Series Rankings plus the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia standings.

Related: Aussie duo fuelled by countrymen’s rise ahead of Singapore Open

His rise has been powered by a standout run of results, including victory at the International Series Japan two weeks ago, plus a win at the ISPS Handa Japan-Australasia Championship. That result also secured him the Australasian Order of Merit.

The lead-in to Singapore has been anything but smooth.

After accepting a late call-up to compete in a LIV Golf event in Mexico, Smyth faced delays, cancellations plus a long wait at the airport before finally arriving in Singapore on the morning of tournament week.

[Photo: Graham Uden / Asian Tour]

“I was sleeping on the floor of the lounge for about five hours,” Smyth said. “Then flew here and arrived this morning at 7 am.”

Asked how he was feeling, he added with a smile, “Feel great.”

Despite a tied 49th finish in Mexico with little preparation, Smyth returns to a course where he has performed consistently. His past results at Sentosa include finishes of T24, T11 plus T16.

He will again start as one of the favourites this week. Much of that belief comes from his win in Japan, which featured a clutch finish with a birdie on 16 plus an eagle on the last, including a decisive 20-foot putt.

“Every time I have a 20-footer, I think of that putt in Japan,” he said. “All the feeling is still in there and I can’t wait to be in that position again.”

The $US2 million event, approximately $3.1 million AUD, is the second stop of The International Series season. It also forms part of the Open Qualifying Series with two places available for The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

Smyth is already exempt through his Australasian Order of Merit win but remains focused on building momentum.

“I want to win again and the rankings too,” he said. “It’s still early days, but just trying to play some good golf and see where we’re at.”

Right now few players in the game are doing it better.

April 23rd, 2026 By Australian Golf Digest [Photo: Graham Uden / Asian Tour] Australian Travis Smyth will tee…

[566
64,63,755,85
post-624507","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-golf","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-golf","tag-sports
["GET
