Dr Taylor said.

“There’s also a specific fear of this kind of franchisee restaurant having social impacts, such as health and the type of food on offer … also concerns about loitering and people hanging around the cark park and littering.”

McDonald’s Australia head of development Jonathan Yap said if approved, the development would create about 100 jobs during construction, and up to 120 jobs for employees.

“The restaurant would be owned and operated by a local franchisee, who would contribute to the local area through employment, access to McDonald’s leading training and development programs, and support local community organisations,”
