Hollands has been open in sharing his ongoing challenges with mental health and took leave away from the club twice in 2025. <\/p>\n
Last year, Carlton coach Michael Voss confirmed the club had asked Hollands to explore his options to find a new club, explaining he was \u201cdisappointed\u201d with some of Hollands\u2019 behaviour. <\/p>\n
He was delisted by Carlton after the 2025 season but was given the opportunity to train during the off-season and was added to the club\u2019s rookie list in the pre-season supplemental selection period.<\/p>\n
Hollands\u2019 dad Ben earlier this week took to Instagram to share a message from the family. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is my beautiful boy,\u201d Ben wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor anyone in the midst of healing … You are loved.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have a unique and defined purpose.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are seen whole. I know who my son is \u2014 and I will lift him up until he is restored in full.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor those supporting someone who is struggling: encourage them, affirm them, and love them.<\/p>\n
\u201cGo to them, remind them of who they truly are.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ollie Hollands \u2014 Elijah\u2019s brother, who also plays for Carlton \u2014 took to Instagram to issue thanks to the club, supporters and the \u201cgreater AFL community\u201d for all their \u201csupport and love\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are no words to describe how grateful we are for all the love and support Elijah and our family have received,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s incredibly challenging watching your own brother go through something like this but the amount of support that we have received has been overwhelming and as a family we will be forever grateful.<\/p>\n
