While some were disappointed that Adrian Grenier<\/a> wasn’t reprising his role as Andy Sachs’s (Anne Hathaway<\/a>) boyfriend<\/a> in The Devil Wears Prada2<\/a>, Patrick Brammall probably isn’t one of them. Despite not even auditioning for the role, the Australian actor is thrilled to step into the role of Peter, her newest love interest.<\/p>\n

“They asked me to audition, and I was like, ‘Look, I don’t have time.’ As an actor, you put down tape all the time… I have been around the block,” he told Today’s<\/a>Sheinelle Jones and Willie Geist. “I was busy, I had to be dad — it was my wife’s turn to work, and I had to be dad, and it would be inconvenient if I got it. Also, no one’s going to give me this role.”<\/p>\n

However, to his surprise, they did give him the role. Shortly after he declined to audition, director David Frankel sent him a text begging him to reconsider. Frankel informed Brammall that the studio, Hathaway, and “America” wanted him to audition.<\/p>\n

After getting over the shock of being aggressively pursued for the part, he agreed. “Yes, absolutely, when do you need me?” he recalled responding.<\/p>\n

With 59<\/a> projects under his belt, Brammall’s face is probably familiar, even if you can’t place him. His first major screen role was playing medical student Matt Marione in the 2004 Australian TV movie The Alice, which he reprised in the spin-off of the same name. Like Chris Hemsworth<\/a>, Heath Ledger, Isla Fisher<\/a>, and other Australian stars, he also spent time on the soap\u00a0Home and Away\u00a0early in his career.<\/p>\n

While he became popular in his home country for playing quirky characters, American audiences were introduced to him when he guest-starred on two sitcoms in 2016: New Girl and Life in Pieces.<\/p>\n

He earned an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award (AACTA) for Best Performance<\/a>\u00a0in a Television Drama for the Australian comedy series\u00a0No Activity, in which he starred\u00a0from 2015 to 2018. He and the show’s creator, Trent O’Donnell, developed an\u00a0American version, which Brammall also starred in from 2017 to 2021.<\/p>\n

Those with kids may recognize his voice for a very unexpected reason. Brammall has voiced Uncle Rad, the uncle of Bluey and Bingo, on the uber-popular kids’ show, Bluey<\/a>, since 2020.<\/p>\n

Between 2019 and 2024, Brammall played Andy Bouchard, Kristen’s (Katja Herbers) husband, on the drama Evil. Since 2022, he’s starred with his wife, Harriet Dyer, in Colin from Accounts, the series they created together.<\/p>\n
