A 2019  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6929928\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6929928\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"study\" data-node-id=\"37.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">study<\/a> published in Clinical Interventions in Aging found that 12 weeks of rebounding significantly improved balance and mobility in women over 50 with osteopenia.<\/p>\n<p>4. It counts as cardio<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"42\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">According to an  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acefitness.org\/continuing-education\/prosource\/october-2016\/6081\/ace-sponsored-research-putting-mini-trampolines-to-the-test\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.acefitness.org\/continuing-education\/prosource\/october-2016\/6081\/ace-sponsored-research-putting-mini-trampolines-to-the-test\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"American Council on Exercise\" data-node-id=\"42.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">American Council on Exercise<\/a>  (ACE) study, 24 college students took part in a rebounder workout, reaching an average of 79% of their maximum  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a45594278\/heart-rate-zones-fat-burning\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a45594278\/heart-rate-zones-fat-burning\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"heart rate\" data-node-id=\"42.3\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">heart rate<\/a>  \u2013 within the recommended range for  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a63135826\/cardiovascular-endurance\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a63135826\/cardiovascular-endurance\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"cardio\" data-node-id=\"42.5\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">cardio<\/a>  training set by the American College of Sports Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Angela\u2019s fitness scores<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"47\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Angela wore a monitor for three-and-a-half days, providing a snapshot of her daily energy levels and generating scores across key areas of her health.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"51\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Out of a possible 100 for fitness, she scored 74 \u2013 despite not formally exercising. \u2018I don\u2019t do it,\u2019 she admitted. Her relatively high score was likely due to how much she moves day to day, Patrick noted, alongside a recovery routine that supports her overall energy levels.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"55\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Based on your training history and your active lifestyle, you are as fit as you need to be,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"59\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Patrick then carried out two additional tests to build a more complete picture of her physical capacity. \u2018Cardiorespiratory fitness \u2013 your ability to use oxygen \u2013 plays a big role in everyday energy and fatigue,\u2019 he explained.<\/p>\n<p>VO2 max<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"65\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Patrick measured Angela\u2019s  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a63899108\/what-is-vo2-max\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a63899108\/what-is-vo2-max\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"VO2 max\" data-node-id=\"65.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">VO2 max<\/a>, which reflects the maximum amount of oxygen the body can use during intense exercise.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"69\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018It shows how efficiently you deliver oxygen to your tissues and remove carbon dioxide,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"73\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Angela scored 43.5 mL\/kg\/min \u2013 placing her well above Patrick\u2019s 32 mL\/kg\/min lower threshold and the 40 mL\/kg\/min benchmark for good fitness.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"77\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018At 40, you\u2019ve got good physiological fitness. At 45, you\u2019re really good,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"81\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Her recent completion of the  <a href=\"https:\/\/coppafeel.org\/trekking-mountains-and-changing-lives-%E2%9B%B0%EF%B8%8F%F0%9F%A4%9D-coppatrek-indian-himalayas\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/coppafeel.org\/trekking-mountains-and-changing-lives-%E2%9B%B0%EF%B8%8F%F0%9F%A4%9D-coppatrek-indian-himalayas\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"CoppaFeel\" data-node-id=\"81.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CoppaFeel<\/a> charity trek \u2013 a four-day hike through the Himalayas in India, reaching elevations of up to 1,300m \u2013 likely contributed to the result.<\/p>\n<p>Heart rate variability<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"86\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018You\u2019ve got a super <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/fat-loss\/a26096070\/heart-rate-variability\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/fat-loss\/a26096070\/heart-rate-variability\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"HRV\" data-node-id=\"86.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HRV<\/a>,\u2019 Patrick told her, referring to heart rate variability \u2013 the variation in time between heartbeats, which reflects how well the body recovers.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"90\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Angela scored 97\/100.
